As in title, I am attempting world conquest as Poland. It's year 1572, and progress so far:
- killed off Muscovy, my vassal Novgorod owns all Russian provinces
- nearly finished with Scandinavia, vassal Sweden controls most of it
- advancing into Ottomans, feeding Bosnia
- got into HRE, but Austria only passed 1 reform
Now, I plan to become the emperor (since Austria AI doesn't pass reforms despite having enough support and IA), revoke, and swarm France, Spain and GB. Meanwhile, I will also be working on killing off Ottomans and the hordes.

Problem is, everyone in HRE loves Austria, so I have no chance of getting elected. Is vassalizing 3 electors still a good strategy? Brandenburg, Bohemia and Saxony would make for great vassals, and they are right at my borders. I also have Habsburg dynasty ruling, should I claim throne and force PU on Austria?

My idea groups so far were diplomatic, defensive and religious. Planning on picking up exploration next.

My questions:
1. Does this plan seem right?
2. Why doesn't AI emperor pass reforms?
3. Is vassalizing electors the only way for me to become emperor?

Is it a WC or a world domination? As in, an one-tag WC or a WC with a lot of protectorates?

If it's a world domination, you're pretty close to it. Vassalize those 3 electors, force Austria into releasing Styria (if still possible). Try to conquer Europe, Hordes and Muslims before 1750. After that, just go into protectorate spree using expansion and exploration CBs.

IMPORTANT! Be careful when integrating colonizers. You don't want them losing their colonies just because you are taking too long in your wars.

Thanks for advice. What is the point of releasing Styria? Austria is not a threat for me, I could just swarm them with troops if I wanted to. Is it to get imperial authority higher, or disqualify Austria from getting emperor?

You have 22 years to release Styria.

You might need to trucebreak heavily towards the end but revoked vassals are stronk so its still easily doable.

WC was easiest at 1.7.
it has gotten a whole ton harder for ALOT of nations but still not imposible if fortune is smiling upon you.

I just remembered another advice: don't let ROTW westernize! You can do it by not letting any western nation conquer indian/chinese provinces. Also, don't let them colonize east Siberia or too much of Africa.

That shouldn't prevent you from doing your WC anyway, but it doesn't hurt to remember you that westerns can't be protectorates (under normal circunstances). It can set you back a few years.

Apparently, declaring war on Austria would let them bring all their Religious League allies against me. I tried to drag them into war as an ally of Bavaria, but they refused to join (desptie showing that they would), and now I have a massive coalition on my back. Oh well.

1.8 actually made WC a lot easier (at least by the rules of the achievement).

Completely nullifying coalitions and new vassal feeding mechanic vs. adding a bunch of provinces to the ROTW which can get one-shot anyways via protectorates.
