I have Attacked France as Germany and lost Completely. I have 6 tanks, dozens of infantry divisions, and almost just as much Militia. I had air support, and almost all infantry divisions had Artillery attachments. I attacked in February 1939 while it was raining. I have good commanders, I out number them at least 3:1, But I always lose. Is there somting I am overlooking.
Sorry if this is kinda stupid, but I'm too used to playing Total war games where something like this might have worked.

Don't worry, TK. We have all been there. No one is going to flame you here.

Yeah, it's always a good idea to check the provinces you are moving into just for such little surprizes. Also check the weather and the terrain... those can be killers too.

Well, the Ruskies are a whole other ball game my friend. More space and a lot more units to do it with. Just remember the basics:

1. Hit deep (2 provinces or so) with the armor and surround the defenders.
2. Pound the pockets with CAS and bombers.
3. over run with infantry brigaded with artillery.
4. Rinse and repeat.

Just try to take the Bear out befor old man winter shows up.

Just do what Hitler did in real life, attack The Netherlands and Belgium and cross over there to France, you'd need way moar of an army than you presented to actually think about breaking through the Maginot Line, I.E. those 3 Provinces that border Deutschland with the Level 10 Forts on each one of them. After you've crossed over, quickly surround the Maginot line and capture the rest of France, then make the final lunge on the Maginot Line from all directions.

Thanks for all of your help. If anyone has any tips on breaking through the Soviet Border, any help would be nice. I am thinking of having a small force go around Via transport ships, and draw soviet forces way from their front lines. I know a huge front assault wont work, and Nukes are still a far way off for me. I am also building lots of land forts to help prevent counter attack. If anyone has some Proven strategies to defeat Soviets please share.

That is a good, yet 'gamey' trick. Attack with an anphib. landing south of Lenningrad and draw off a majority of his forces... then attack and surround 50% of the army.

Here is a link to a more 'historical' frontal attack.

The boat thing worked somewhat. I made some progress, but If I attack them now, I will almost certainly lose. I am still safe from attack, but its kind of a stale mate. Any help on breaking through. Its march 1944 BTW.

Not sure what advice to give you... do you have a Time Machine?

The USSR should be attacked as early as practical... mid-May 1940 would be perfect; June 1941 would be historical; late spring 1942 is probably too late. Not sure what to say about March 1944.

The German advantage in Tech and Doctrines tends to evaporate by summer 1942, and they just fall further behind from then on.

it was 43, Typo, sorry. Anyway, through relentless attacks I am 2 provinces away from Moscow, I am on offensive, its June 44. I don't think I can lose now.
I am also producing Panzers and Mechanized infantry divisions. by October I will be ready to defend from Soviet counter attack.

you also need stalingrad, leningrad, and sverdlovsk to have a chance at winning though. You need to push them a bit far back from the Caspian Sea and take the start of the Urals.

Then you'll have to pray that Stalin wants peace, otherwise...Gluck Auf?
