Attack of the assasins. Bug or feature?

So then, last night I conquered England with Norway, destroyed the title of England but ended up giving northumbria independence because they were bugging me and I just wanted to get rid of them, I also had large parts of Sweden and a few chunks of Scotland. I had good relations to everyone and I was allied with Novgorod, HRE and Sweden. So then all of a sudden all my council started dropping like flies until I only had like 4 to chose from. 4 left and all positions open. I quickly ended plots by asking plotters to do so, all accepted.

Has anyone experienced this?

Do you know the killer or no?

I've had a bit of this, it was kinda ugly early game where I lost 3 spymasters to the same woman. Finally, I got her. Then later it was more about me and a couple neighbors trying to kill me ...but that was kinda fun and I got my revenge. I don't know, maybe this will be short-lived for you too.

I know now I tend to educate my heir with decent intrigue and marry the same, sacrificing uber stewardship and I also have an ongoing assassin breeding program.

I think he might be talking about the Assassins im not sure how often it happens for Christian rulers (if at all) but when i was playing as the great Sultan Alfonzo Falcon! i lost many a courtier to those random events

Ah, ok -- I wouldn't know about that -- I'm not a heathen, at least in-game.

I wonder if high State Intrigue reduces this though... it seems like it should.

Basicly every so often there is a random event that pops up that kills off one of your courtiers in a random fashion throwing knife, head in a basket etc but one time i lost like 15 courtiers in 5 years im pretty sure it was a glitch but that is what im guessing happened to this guy

Ah, not sure if it were THE assasins. But I got messages that some were (IIRC) killed and some died of natural causes. It was really weird because within a short period of play time I was reduced to an almost empty list :ninja:

The Hashashin will only attack if you're e_byzantium, e_il_khanate, e_golden_horde, k_jerusalem, or muslim. The rest of Christendom need not worry about them. Of course, it doesn't stop a lunatic doge with a lot of cash from murdering half your vassals.

Ah yeah i had that happen once when i was playing an Irish duke the plague came and killed everyone it sounds like you just had a stroke of very bad luck

Yeah that makes sense i had a funny feeling that was how it worked
