Atlantis sank in the ocean 9000 years before the lifetime of Solon (according to Plato), so ca. 11.600 years ago at the end of the last huge ice age. Has nothing to do with the time period covered in the game.

Agree to a point. And regardless it would be a fantasy 'What if' kind of scenario. However, if, and it's potentially a big if, we see a DLC of Atlantis, we are looking at the very least a year or two into the future and a lot of other things to be sorted/implemented before then. I've been thinking more how they might implement mystery cults and expand on the existing religious aspects of the game. I like how societies are done in CK2, but this game doesn't have the same character focus so not sure how well it would be implemented, should they choose to do it. As others have pointed out, there is a lot of historical based options for them to play around with before we look at the fantasy element, especially if that ends up only appealing to a select group of us.
Edit: To clarify, the to a point part is that I agree, historically it has nothing to do with the time period, but if implementing a mythological/fantasy element, then I suspect the actual time frame will be the smallest of inconveniences to it.
Without going the fantasy DLC route, I'm sure some fun semi-hidden stuff could be done with the concept. Greek state decides to embark on a great search for the fabled ancients, many shennanigans are had, some relatively minor and plausible but flavourful results are to be had, and so on. Kinda like the "revive Hellenism" thang that was brought in not so long ago for CK2, or some such.
