Atlantis could be a fun fantasy invasion option like Aztecs in CK2. Really hoping we see an end game surprise horde spawn next dev clash.
yeah u can't colonize Russia, so if there is some endgame empire it should come from there.Really hoping we see an end game surprise horde spawn next dev clash.
This is sad, yet true.Considering the s***storm that happened at the ck2 forum in the wake of Sunset Invasion I'd be surprised if they did Atlantis
This is sad, yet true.
I own Sunset Invasion. I've used it a few times and it was a nice change of pace.
I understand why people didn't like the DLC, and that is perfectly fine. Preferences are acceptable and normal.
What is sad is the toxicity of some of the people who opposed the DLC. I believe that toxicity has led Paradox to avoid similar DLCs. I find that a shame because it really limits DLCs to fairly historical straitjackets.
I have never understood some peoples loathing for something purely optional as well. Literally the only thing locked by the dlc is the Aztecs themselves so it's not like you miss out on anything by not having it if you don't like the inclusion of the Aztecs. This is sad, yet true.

Personally I would be annoyed that we were getting a DLC which I find silly and mildly irritating rather than something which deepens the game; that said, life isn't fair, so I wouldn't complain if they did. I just wouldn't buy it.I have never understood some peoples loathing for something purely optional as well. If it was the first dlc they released then I would be extreamly unhappy. But if after a couple of years and they have spent some time expanding and deepening the gameplay for the different cultures on the map I'd welcome something fantastical.Personally I would be annoyed that we were getting a DLC which I find silly and mildly irritating rather than something which deepens the game; that said, life isn't fair, so I wouldn't complain if they did. This.
Also, there is already a lot of things to do about the regions on the map. The lack of personality of most of the map is already striking before release, I can't imagine how it will feel after the first 100 hours in game.
Some features will probably have to be reworked entirely - such as the religion system - so I think it would be a bad idea to release fantasy DLCs before the game is in a satisfying state (let's say 2 years from now). When it's time I think I would enjoy some kind of mythological version of history (a bit like the Animal Kingdoms in CK2, but with mythical creatures and gods).
However it shouldn't be too hard to mod in an addendum to the map, as well as fancy atlantean mechanics. However, since this game is essentially about map painting, the perspective of playing in a remote island isn't very exciting. In CK2 you're playing as a family, and you can survive under aztec rule, just like you can survive the mongols without having to defeat them. But in a game like Imperator, if you have a big invasion force and are defeated, there's nothing on the horizon other than frustration and game over. So Atlantis in Imperator cannot be that either.
Fantasy isn't an excuse to limit suggestions to "aha ah Atlantis would be so fun" imo. What exactly would it add to the game?
I will totally be modding Atlantis in!I actually thought about making an Atlantis mod, but I'm afraid that I have no time to do it.
So maybe anyone else could do this, plz?![]()
What I'm hearing is some people saying, I've pre-ordered the game, never played it, however, I want to spend some more money on DLCs. WTF is wrong with people? Let's play the base game and enjoy it. There will be DLCs, but the first ones obviously should focus on whatever historical aspects people feel have been underdeveloped AFTER the community has played it.
You want to play Atlantis? This isn't your game. Atlantis never existed. Go find some other developer to hassle with your fantasies. (Personally this is also why I probably won't buy the upcoming Total War game focusing on ROTK). I'll accept things in historical games that make the gameplay better despite not being entirely accurate historically, but I will not accept fantasy.
I agree there. Should be able to turn off features like this without sacrificing achievements and not have other features tied to it. And there are/will be plenty before we are talking about this kind of DLC.
