There is one pool for mobilized soldiers and a different one for trained soldiers. For the mobilized soldier one, you have to click on the mobilize area, I think.

Edit: Sorry, did you mean after you had deployed them? Then I don't know, it might be a bug.

I believe that ArneHD has the right idea. Event-created units appear in the mobilization pool, not the purchased-unit pool. Assuming I'm not having another senior moment/brain fart.

I've never seen a bug associated with this message, although that doesn't mean anything greatly important, I suppose. But, every time I've gotten it, there is a unit in my pool waiting to be deployed.

Right -- but I've checked and there are no more units to mobilize, and none waiting to be deployed as far as I can see.

When you click "Increase Mobilization," then click "Mobilize," that only increases your manpower, right? (It doesn't create a new division somewhere) So the only way to create a new division is through the normal recruitment screen, right?

Perhaps the better question is: Is there a separate deployment screen for units created through mobilization and units created "normally"?

No. It will mobilise from your population divisions the amount of divisions your mobilisation pool consists of. They will become available some time later once the mobilisation finishes.

Just to clarify: If you have mobilizable divisions and you click the button "Mobilize", the area around the three buttons that concern mobilization becomes a button in itself. If you click that button, you get to the listing of divisions that are being mobilized. There you can see when the mobilization will be finished. Units that you get from events, for some obscure reason, also end up in that list.

But, of course, those units are not quite as good as the regular army ones. They come without any experience and have no brigades attached. And, of course, they'll go away once you demobilize.

Also, it can be a bit of a pain, when playing smaller nations, to have leaders for the greatly enlarged army.

This reminds me of another question I had: How do you know if a stack of units under a given ruler is large enough to cause the "overstacking" penalty in combat? I've never seen a tooltip mention it...

AFAIK, that's because there is no such penalty.

It may have been done away with since 1.0; but the "Combat Modifiers" page of the fold-out quick reference guide that originally came with Vicky includes a modifier called "Overstacking: A commander gets a severe penalty if too many units are under his command in a battle"

Probably, whoever wrote the manual played too much HoI :D

Actually, overstacking is a bonus. When attacking against huge penalty (say, -70% due to forest-mountains, -80 due to enemy entrenchment) larger stacks will have higher efficiency. not tested how exactly it works, but when my 6 divisions attacked 1 horrendously entrenched enemy division in forested mountains, they were at about 6%. When I added more divisions, that efficiency went above 10% even though added troops were pretty much the same raw recruits.

Maybe it had to do with better leadership, better morale, and a higher experience level among your troops? I suppose there were some of them who'd been in on the earlier push.

There is an advantage to overstacking, though: efficiency doesn't go below 1%, so if you're getting that, throwing more stuff at the enemy means you're throwing in more firepower.

But, overall, the Victoria manual and fold-out were rather useless when they came out, and then went downhill fast as the patches came out. :)

There is a bonus for large armies. This feature was added in patch 1.01 but it seems to be almost unknown. It has not been added in combat efficiency tooltip but I have done some research and found that following formula in most cases comes very close:

.5(large army-small army)+.5(large army/small army).

This is added to large army's combat efficiency and is even minimum cap, efficincy can't be lower. Small armies have no army size penalty.

In the situation above the formula gives: .5(6-1)+.5(6/1)=5.5.
There can also be other modifiers like high organization.

Anyone interested to do his own research and verify my results or find a better formula?
