Hey i was wondering if there is any clarification on the achievement assuming control

i've read through the wiki and in the achievement section its says you can get this by either waiting for your faction leader to die in a war whilst not taking part or having 50% more factories and manpower in the field then they do

however in the same wiki it says i need be in all wars my faction leader is in and have 150% more manpower and factories
i cannot seem to get the option anywhere to assume control of any of the factions whilst playing a minor.

any help or an up to date guide would be greatly appreciated

I got it while playing as Republican Spain and joining Comintern to help the Soviets. Germans took them out and I became the leader of faction (I was in this war too, so USSR didn't die completely). The key here is to become a major nation yourself (by having a lot of factories) so you don't capitulate with faction leader if there are no other majors fighting in faction. I believe 150% requirement for manpower and factories is for diplomatic option while leader is still alive and it costs 200 PP (the button for this is located in diplomacy screen with your faction leader).

I don't know for sure, but I think that just joining a faction and letting its leader and other major members die in a war but not joining the war yourself will make you a faction leader (and the only survivor).

i tried it the last way and let Germany die to the allies and Russia and i did automatically get control of the axis but the achievement never fired so i assumed it didn't work that way. it feels like a loosing battle against the axis or the communists is there a good way of doing it as a nation in the allies?

are they any good minors to choose from that can compete manpower wise with Germany or Russia?

You don't need lots of manpower or factories to get this achievement. You just need to have more than the remaining members of the faction once the major that formerly led it gets capitulated. This is a helluva lot less tedious than trying to take over the Allies or Axis as a minor. The wiki has a blurb on that strategy:

Faction leadership is also transferred to the next most powerful member if the current leader capitulates. Join the Comintern as a minor. Do not help the USSR (do not join the war) and wait for them to capitulate. Once capitulated you will be the only member of the Comintern. If the USSR appears to be winning switch ideologies to fascist and join the axis.

I got this achievement as Communist South Africa, which doesn't have much manpower or factories, by simply joining the Comintern, and then waiting for the Germans to take the USSR.

Brazil is an awesome choice for this one:
  • You start with 23 factories and 20 open build slots. Add in the 10 you get from national focuses and you're over 50.
  • Once you're safely over 50 factories and won't capitulate along with Uncle Joe, flip red and join the Comintern.
  • Join the war whenever you feel like, though earlier is better.
  • Wacky things can happen while you're AFK, so set yourself some hobbies to pursue while waiting for the usual 1943 collapse.
  • A good early choice is to sweep up those annoying Axis raiders they always send to the Caribbean.
  • Once the US is safely in the war, declare on Venezuela and Peru to pad your participation.
  • With a little luck, Venezuela will overrun Guyana, Suriname, and French Guiane and you can overrun them back for the free aluminum.
  • Regardless, just keep yourself busy not meaningfully assisting the Soviets. Participate without actually helping.
  • Then bask in the achievement once the USSR falls.

in regards to the wiki though, that don't join the war lead me to believe you can literally not join the war instead of join the war but do not participate very confusing wording.

I think what the wiki was trying to say is that in addition to not joining the the war, don't send them lend lease, volunteers, or trade for their resources. Just do nothing. Then, once they capitulate, you should automatically inherit the leadership of the faction.
