How do I assign orders to my naval units? I can't get my subs to patrol or anything, they just sit under the enemy fleet and do nothing. Very frustrating.

Also how do I put planes on carriers? They always seem to fly back to land when I try and point em to the carriers. Again, very frustrating.

These may have been asked before, or it may be in the manual, although I can't find it, so any help would be greatly appreciated.

Welcome to the HoI forum

Naval units only move into seazones and attack enemy convoys and TFs, if they are spotted. The propabilty of spotting depends on the ship classes and technolgy level installed on the ships. AFAIK, a Patrol-order does nothing special, so simply move your TFs where you want them to attack.

To rebase planes to a carrier, fly the Airgroup in the seazone ehere the carrier is. You only can put one airgroup per carrier. More advanced Carriers (I think the 'heavy Hull ones) can carry 2 or even 3 AGs.

Don't get irritated by some minor bugs or flaws that are still in HoI1, the game is excellent!
