Hello everyone,

When playing as the UK and going to war with Germany early (in 1938 over Czechoslovakia) an 'Attempt on Hitler's Life' news event comes up shortly after the war starts. I assume it appears if the early war goes badly for Germany(?). It appears to have several different outcomes:

1. Hitler is assassinated and a civil war starts in Germany
2. Hitler survives and a civil war starts in Germany
3. Hitler is assassinated, but no civil war starts
4. Hitler survives and no civil war starts

Obviously, option #1 is much more helpful to me as the UK, and can result in a pretty swift end to WW2. My question is; is there anything that I can do as the UK (or other country) to affect the result of this event? Like causing casualties? Bombing? Increasing intelligence networks? Or is the outcome chosen at complete random? I have all the DLCs.

Thanks a lot for the help.

It's completely random.

The event outcome is random, though it will only trigger after Germany starts losing the war on a refused Sudetenland. Not anything you can do to influence the result though.

Edit: As per below, apparently war score can actually affect the odds

Thanks a lot for the explanation. That's a pity. I'll have to factor that in then.

If you look at Germany's events in the wiki it tells you the criteria for the event. Also the Chances of success of the assassination.
After 150 days if Czechoslovakia hasn't capitulated and France and UK are still at war with Germany the event triggers.

This is copied from the event page.

Ah, interesting. Then my goal should be to keep Germany's warscore below 39% for the best chances then? Thanks a lot.

Yep. Just make sure the Czechs hold and your odds are better Hitler is assassinated.

Thanks a lot for the help.
This is historical Oster Conspiracy, it really could have happened. Many high ranking in the German military were ready to overthrow Hitler if war broke out for the Sudetenland, but "thanks" to Chamberlain, it did not happen. Chamberlain saved Hitler. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oster_conspiracy

Agreed. Shrier in the "Rise and Fall of the Third Reich" talks about how one of the German generals talked about how for a successful coup, they needed three things. They had everything they need, except popular support. They realized that if the Allies balked at Hitlers demands and war broke out, they would suddenly have the people on their side. By appeasing Hitler, the Allies all but secured Hitler's support internally as a diplomatic "genius".
