Have you ever thought to release each of the bigger franchises every year as a whole new title, the way Fifa/FootballManager/PES do it? Have a larger team on each game, have them make Europa Universalis 2014, Europa Universalis 2015, Europa Universalis 2016 and so forth, each year release the next iteration with 3-4 DLCs worth of content, each time get full new game's publicity rather than lousy semi-reviews that DLCs (even big and good ones) for games are getting, charge full game's price each time?
Yea, they update the DB every year (though I have the DB updated with recent transfers (and everything else) for Fm2013 already (and regularly), so it's not that big a feature as you'd assume). But in addition to that, and where the bulk of the changes is, they also update the engine, the interface, add piles of new features, rework whole game aspects the same way PDS do it for DLCs. The main point here is that they get full press coverage for their game every year as they are indeed releasing a full new game. FM has been doing this since the 90s, until everyone has heard the name eventually, and at one point they even had to restart with a brand new name and pulled through.

Hello Paradox,
I was wondering if you guys would ever be able to make a grand strategy game spanning the pre Rome period? I think the city states of mesopotamia would be perfect since they would allow a military component with expansions and I think it would be possible to implement the family aspect of Crusader Kings into it![]()
I read as much as I have time for, which is not all, but a large chunk of posts on the games I work on. I generally stay away from posting in those threads though because I would rather see how the ideas and responses appear without my intervention. This usually works a little differently inside closed beta forums where I will often shut down an idea early if I think its a waste of time, or prop it in a direction I'd like. To make this answer a bit less politically correct I'll also add this: 80% of ideas are usually crap, 15% we already thought of, but the leftover 5% can be very good and often end up in our games.
Quite often during development of patches or expansions someone will come and say "Hey look at this good idea buried deep in this thread, lets implement this for next patch!"

Ah, but publishing and developing are two very different things. PDS never published anything. That is indeed a valid argument, still it didn't withhold them of publishing Chariots of War![]()
One example springs to mind: In the recent thread 5 achievements for [EU4] 1.3, someone asked if achievements would be allowed outside IronMan. Johan responded quickly with "No", which is great that he did answer that. But actually his flat 'no' kind of caused more discussion than not answering at all, because a lot of people felt strongly about it and many (myself included) continue to debate the benefits of changing that decision.
On some of my bug reports (less than half), someone pops up and says they've reported the problem internally (presumably in an actual bugtracking system like Bugzilla). It's nice to get feedback but... does this mean that all my other bug reports are being ignored?
A good question! I asked QA about it, and they said that they try to answer as many as they have time with, and of course they miss some bugs, but most with no reply is because they glanced over it and saw that it was already in the system, or that it has been fixed already.
On a related note, is it worthwhile or useful to bump/update a bug report if the bug is still present in the next patch?
The $39.99 Founder’s Edition includes beta access, $10 off the regular price, and a special forum badge. The $99.99 Founder’s Elite Edition gives players all future DLC and expansions for free as they come out, alpha access, their name in the game’s credits, and the right to name a star to appear in-game.
Will PDS ever do sth like that (it's from the GalCiv3's announcement)?
