What would you guys say is the easiest paradox strategy game to start playing and get the hang of?
I'd say Stellaris. Stellaris shares many elements with a certain popular civilisation builder that recently released a 6th iteration that getting the hang of the basic building elements is pretty simple. Since you also always start small with one planet and a handful of ships you will naturally encounter new game elements along the way.

Paradox,

I'm sure you guys have noticed there's a lot of enthusiasm for another EU: Rome on these boards. My question is, is there any interest on your team in doing a broader Antiquity-based game? In the same way that Crusader kings was originally about playing Christian Feudal realms but has since had map extensions, new start dates and many new mechanics, would it be possible for a game focusing on the familiar late Republic/ early Principate to later get map expansions to the Maurya or Han empires, start dates for the Peloponnesian Wars or the time of the Dominate, etc? The classic Roman setting is a bankable, commercially safe setting to go with but it can also be a vehicle for events and settings that would be a lot of fun to play, but which don't have the name recognition to carry a game of their own- the Migration Period, China's Warring States, the Gallic and Palmyrene Empires, the pre-Islamic Arab kingdoms, and so on. Is there any interest in doing something like that?

What exactly happened with the War franchise (war of the roses, war of the Vikings)? WotR in particular was a very popular game. It even spawned a sequel but than one day it all seemed to abruptly shut down due to a lack of profit. Does pdx still own the IP? Does fatshark still work with pdx? Will the series ever be revived?

I know that the Europa Universalis video game franchise originated from a board game with the same name that Paradox licensed (if I remember what I've read from Johan's Twitter correctly). I wonder if you have ever thought of acquiring control of the original board game somehow.

Thanks for the quick answer,

So will post my question here:
I was wondering if u could use a geographer in your team. For further improving Ingame mechanics like (dynamic) weather systems, for map generating (cartography), detailed information about certain countries like natural resources, population structure or accurate, detailed landscapegenerating. <-- Just to name some examples :)
I did not find any explicit job offering in this direction on your careerwebsite, but certainly Paradox deals with these topics when creating grand strategy games.

Greetings

Greetings

Well, generally speaking no, at least not as a full time position, but I can imagine it being a useful experience. Most of the things you've listed are handled by Game Designers and Content Designers (like me), and while such things are large tasks within the projects it is still only a part of the job. Having an expert on the subject at hand would be an asset when such tasks are tackled, but it would still require you to be able to do scripting to implement features, writing to write events and game information, and be able to judge how such features would translate into the game.

This is not something you need a fancy game design education for, but it is still skills that are somewhat required. I for one was hired with no formal education or game design experience, but I was able to show that I had enough basic knowledge and understanding of the subjects to be an interesting hire.

Hello Shams et al.

I wanted to inquire about a publishing related question that might be kinda border on "when is the next CK2 coming out?" So I can understand if this sort of question won't be answered.
The question relates to your storefront powers related with the Steam store front.

I've raised this question or at least this remark on the Steam Beta forums because I believe this is a bug within the steampowered.com and it all has to relate with bundling. Which is how bundles in /sub/ don't get the right discount (where both items sell individually for less than the bundle would intend) as some bundles would or might with being in the /bundle/ sort of bundle.

There is an example with this game Majestic Nights it has a bundle listed in /sub/ with the first two chapters of the game available. The two items are listed at 1.09 and 2.19 CDN coming to a total of 3.28 while on sale and the /sub/ package total comes to 4.39. example http://store.steampowered.com/sub/50942/

Now Steam has sort of somewhat fixed this by allowing /bundle/ sales that do very much the same as the above but it changes it so that if you have already purchased a part of the bundle that it would remove the cost of the item and somewhat discount the rest of the package. example http://store.steampowered.com/bundle/635/

So my question is half between when is Paradox going to update the bundles to the new format? and what exactly would be stopping a developer from making those changes currently? are there additional costs, strategy, a lack of awareness, good/bad relations with valve, other fundamental changes to the store that are not inherently known to the public?

Why is hoi3 dlc unavailable for mac while the base hoi3 is?
Because the MacOS version of HoI3 was developed by Virtual Programming and they seem to have stopped distributing through Steam at some point.
Same is true for the later EU3 expansions.
For newer games Paradox has started doing the MacOS versions themselves.

Always wanted to ask: are they ever going to create strategies about other periods of history? Like ancient Egypt or late Cold war (maybe 1980) or early modern times (maybe 1991)?
Thank you in advance

For Cold War they had East versus West in development, but it got canceled.
