This is a question for PDS, but also for Shams or Susana, so I’ll post it here.
AFAIK, HoI3 is your biggest-seller, followed closely by EU3 and possibly CK2 by now. They shift a lot of units, bring in a lot of fans and so forth. However, there is a perception that HoI fans, and possibly CK2 fans may be more casual, relatively speaking, then fans of Victoria, EU and so on. So, is there anything to the idea that a HoI or CK fan who is introduced to PDS games through those games, is less likely to become a hardcore fan of PDs in general, compared tio Victoria or EU fans? Conversely, is there any evidence to suggest that Victoria fans, while small in number, are by their nature more likely to expand their interest into the whole stable of games, because if they are intersted in such a deep game, they are intrinsically more inclined to seek out similar games than a HoI fan?
Or am I way overthinking the whole thing?
hoi is more hardcore.
*chortle* That made my day, thanks. He means that Hearts of Iron 3 fans are like rubble, laid out in the road bed before bitumen is poured on top to create the road surface.
The bitumen is strategic depth, the road itself is life.
It's quite a deep metaphor when you think about it.

if thats your road desgin, no wonder the world and life in general are going to hell. the only thing rubble is good for is filling in the cuts before you place your base.
HOI3 gamers are more like the aggregate that makes up the base, some are large and low down, they support and distrubuite the load (in the case of this metaphor, mods) some are slightly smaller, sitting ontop of the large rocks, reducing movement, and due to desired size disturbution, interlocking to hold the road steady (the provaors of tech-support and random question answerers.)
finially you have the small rocks, of m4-40 size, that sit under the bituman, in layers compacted in thickness decided by the CBR vaules of the land underneath, these are the "filthy casuals" that ask the random questions, and think that HOI3 has a steep learning qurve, to that i say go play the X3 series and get back to me once your brain stops exploding
But what of those that do all of the above....(Distributing a mod / tech support / random questions)
So am I all encompassing life, as the metaphor goes, or just loose rocks banging around![]()
