If this has been asked, excuse me as I didn't read all 120 pages

Do you people who really work to get these games done play them also? If yes, as I expect, could we ever see an AAR made by real Paradoxian(s) or are you too busy for that?

There are several beta AARs made by them. Although I don't really know about a 'real' one.

Sorry to change the direction of this thread temporarily, but I have to ask...

After my unsatisfactory experiences with Quality Control and Elven Legacy, is there anything that can be provided by way of assurance that non-Paradox Interactive developed (but distributed) titles will be better supported in the future? The concept of "fire and forget" may work well in HoI games, but doesn't wash when it comes to games distribution. This isn't a gripe, as the time for griping over the problems with overlapping sound files in Elven Legacy FMVs is long gone. The point is relevant as Paradox Interactive seem to be taking more developers under their wings. If this is just a problem with Ino-Co titles, then I can live with that. As mentioned, I'm a (kind-of) fan of Paradox but need assurance on this point.

Has any thought been made as to sell the old Clausewitz games on gog.com? A bundle of HoI1/2/DD/Arma for 5.99, and V1+CK1+EU1+2 for 9,99 sounds very reasonable and the "no DRM" policy of gog.com wouldn't hurt you.

Darkrenown...Thank you for replying. Your answer encourages me and I hope/pray the folk that have been taken on will make a difference! Sadly, my Elven Legacy (Complete) DVD is about to become a coaster but I'm on the lookout for a "real" Paradox Interactive game to try now. Thanks...

I did not run a proper QA test of it, and external titles will not be tested by me anyway, but I really like Elven Legacy game mechanics... So my question for you is what you didn't like about it? I would like to know what kind of bugs you discovered.

I have no idea, but I will be pedantic and point out those were all "Europa" engine game :)

Ouch! But I have found Gog to be a great place to get old games at dirt cheap prices. Gamersgate is still be favorite though.

Argh. Well, of course, Europa engine games, precisely what I meant of course!

The question still stands, then :)

artfox...Thank you for following up my concerns, but do we really want to go over old ground? With due respect to you; the problems with overlapping sound files in the FMVs (English language localised game) is well known about. This problem was known about in May 2009 when the game was released here in the UK and causes the story being communicated in the FMVs to become unintelligble. The problem with the manual containing contractualling obliging incorrect information was known about in May 2009 and the pdf on the Complete Collection DVD contains a scan of the original manual! The fact that there are two show-stopper bugs in the expansions is not really an issue (well, some might say it is) as the Elven Legacy forum contains fixes, if you dig around. To be fair, unless someone is intent on following these issues up, I'd rather we just dropped the point. I posted here "by invitation" and I was happy with the response I got to my original post. I am generally positive about Paradox Interactive but am skeptical about the quality of Ino-Co/1C games. I think of Soldiers: Heroes of WW2 and shudder; I remember Dawn of Magic and wonder quite what they were doing and I think of Elven Legacy and think of fire and forget. Nuff said...

JRHINDO...Your remark is just plain funny! I'm sure that you are right and some of what was on display in Soldiers: Heroes of WW2 was really good, but I traded in my collection of Best Way games (Soldiers, Faces of War and Men of War) after spending fifteen fairly unhappy hours in the company of Soldiers. Much could be said on that subject but I was interested to note that the FAQ for Soldiers hosted on Gamefaqs was missing critical bits of information. I remember trying (just for fun) the first of the English missions in Soldiers and noted that a timer was displayed. The in-game objectives did not make it clear what would "kill" the timer, so I turned to the FAQ. That also had no reference to what stopped the mission timer, so I knew something was up. I also remember the third of the Russian missions. In that, to complete the mission, you had to get two of your people back to the train, after meeting up with a contact. Well, when the mission failed to end after I did that, once again I suspected things were not as they should be. As it happened, the mission ended after you got the train moving, but that was not clear in the objectives. Finally, how is it that a German medium tank can take over ten hits with AP shells and not blow up...answers on a postcard, please! [Ed. One grenade hit from behind usually does the job... Really!]

In conclusion, I may well pick Men of War up again if I see it for sale, perhaps to see if it is much, much better than Soldiers. I'm guessing that it will be frustrating, but as long as that makes sense then I might stick with it. Thanks for the tip.

Please forgive me a moment here...

For a great read...Check out the review of Soldiers: Heroes of WW2 on Gamefaqs by asherdeus...It's a hoot!

BTW, JRHINDO...I notice there are no reviews for Men of War on Gamefaqs at all. What is going on?
