Europe 1921:

Europe has changed, for better or for worse. After the stunning victory in 1917, the German Kaiser reins pretty sweet in Europe. The treaty with the Russian Empire made it gain a huge empire to the East made up of modern Baltic states, Ukraine and Belarus, along with Poland. The French at this point have fallen to fascism and the Kingdom of Italy is edging towards that same fate in the next decade. The happiness in the British Empire is fading, as the domains in the Empire see that it is not in their best interest to remain in the Empire. The Austrian-Hungarian state, even after winning with Germany, collapsed utterly, as Hungary, Croatia, Slovenia and Venice all break apart from the Austrian state. Russia has decended into civil war between the communist factions and the Tsarists factions in Siberia. The Ottoman Empire is still sick as ever.

Then, there is America.

FVq4jQ5.png

America remains unchanged, but as the new age of the German Empire dawns, these United States will have to endure a world in which everything is changing. With Canada still in the minds of Americans wanting to remove the "Red" in America and the independent states of Latin America waiting to be influenced by the Yankee Empire, the United States of America is indeed in a new world order.

Greetings AARland!

It has been a while, but I think I finally got a good thing starting up here. I'll be playing as the United States of America, but using the Kaiserreich mod made for Victoria 2 HoD by Jezbob. (Link in name. Go check it out!) The rules are all the same as in my last two AARs, and of course the universal goal remains clear: Kick the Brits out of Canada. Luckly for us, this is part of the new decisions set for the US in the mod. I just hope that this AAR turns out good, unlike my failed Korean one which by now is as dead as a dodo.

Goals for this AAR
  1. Annex Canada
  2. Annex Central America
  3. Attempt to annex Mexico

This is what I had in mind as a good AAR: a nice modded game with excellent stuff added. Without anymore delay, I shall say that this AAR will start today!

subbed Good Luck.

Was just there today, have a nice trip.

Okay, I am back! The update will be written today.

Edit: Make that tomorrow....the writing is taking a bit of time, so it should be out tomorrow. But worry not, for the writing will repay itself! :D

Alright, update is here! I'm going to try a new form of writing here, as a difference from my previous "to the point" way I wrote. This is because of the mod, and it deserves some pretty good respect.

~I All roads lead to Washington I~
1921-1933

The name is Reginald Bartlett, but you can call me Bart.

Now, I gotta say, the Great War was pretty violent. I mean, my boy Sam got shipped off to Europe at '17, but he died fighting the Germans. It was just like nothing could hold back the Germans from achieving their victory. I swear, it has to do with their ways of being able to win wars, as is their tradition with their past monarchs, more specifically, Fredrick the Great. So anyways, I still stay in the US because it is a land of opportunity. After the war, I vowed I would never send another one of my boys to fight in any war after what happened to Sam. At least today, 4 years later, the folks up in D.C. finally decided to enact the Universal way of voting, so now my oldest boy of 19 can vote. Also they finally made a new bank! Finally, a place to put my hard-earned money!

1ViaUm1.jpg

For once, the folks up in Washington got some sense now to think what is right for our country!

Now the Germans at this point have decided to make an empire for themselves. I mean, they literally own most of Europe! At least their Austrian-Hungarian counterparts did not survive the war, but nevertheless, they Kaiser rules supreme in Europe. France is nothing but a laughing stock at this point, and the English are having trouble maintaining their Empire in the wake of their defeat at the hands of the Germans. The Turks managed not to fall apart-barely-and actually manage to be some what of a force in the Middle East.

dLAXYEo.jpg

Looks like the Kaiser let Bulgaria build themselves a bit of an Empire there.

The next big thing from what I heard from the government is a thing called "limited access roads". Apparently this is suppose to make getting from one place to another easier, but of course, I have my doubts. I mean, how can we improve our roads if we have not even been able to improve our economy? It has been a flop so far, but it is getting somewhat better. Woodrow Wilson sure has the guts to bring the country into this mess but then again, what can I say about the President? We Americans are still not worried about an involvement in Europe, and besides we managed to stay the way we are. The English though had it rougher. Their happiness there in the Empire is fading, and for all I care, most of us Americans just wanna see the red empire die already.

enuY5xC.jpg

They seem to be taking a turn for the worse here.

Later, the roaring Twenties, as people have been calling them, turn up. Our new president elect Warren G. Harding decided to do the right thing an enact what he calls "boom time" polices. I mean, with the potential for economic dominance present, it would be in the nations best interest to enact policies that will encourage the boom through new immigration, lower taxation, and deregulation of all industries. In the meantime in Europe, they just keep on tearing themselves apart. While they do that, we Americans found out one of our Pacific Island by the name of Pitcairn has decided to become a full part of our United States, even if they are just an obscure territory in our vast Empire. Also we get our upper house elected based on population. Now perhaps Congress can get the boom times rolling! Now, for a newspaper:

LBcz2KH.jpg

My father used to make newspapers down south in Mananas, but that was before we moved to New York.

We finally got our roads we needed. Perhaps I can get over to the west and take a break from the boom here in New York City. Synthetic Polymers are now the next big thing in our government's think-tank. On top of that, they decided to grant the Panama canal we have statehood! Can you think of it, the state of Panama? This canal is smaller than Rhode Island! Now, we hear the poor Italians are dealing with being on the allied side of the Great War. Apparently, some guy by the name of Benito Mussolini came up with the ideal of Fascism that has already taken over France and their military council and has ordered a march on Rome with his supporters, named "black shirts". We here in the states are lucky that our government is still strong enough to provide us with our meals and deals, but over there, they are in a civil war over beard. Come on, bread!? I know the country was defeated by the Germans, but now them tearing themselves apart is pretty bad. Even the French conseil militaire is doing far better than their Italian counterparts. Oh wait...

4hB9pU2.jpg

Aperently, the the irony is that here, the Fascist are now dealing with a population that wants to see the "last Bonaparte" returned to his glory.

I can't blame them for their odd ideals. They are the French of course, and with losing a war twice in a row, they are sure to get uppity. I swear Harding got a stroke after he heard that, cause now he is dead. Calvin Coolidge is now our President for the time being. The irony is getting bigger and bigger every day. This time around, the Italian Royal government crushed the revolt of the fascist in Northern Italy, but now the French military council has to defeat a royalist revolt in the South of the country. At least in Russia, their own civil war has ended, and for once the Socialist there have defeated the Tsarists government. So anyways, back to America. Coolidge has decided that we need to expand even more. Even if the South is no longer wanting to spread their slavery to the other parts of our North American land mass, the American people need to see action happen. My personally, I don't see a reason why our boys ought to go to war again over our fellow Americans once again, even if they more more...central.

bjWf7FT.jpg

Honduras is a fine place to start off, but they seem too big and yet lack a decent population.

Of course the Central American nation is going to hate us afterwords, but at least we have some sort of place to practice our troops before the government decides to get smart and take out Canada. The Russian in the meanwhile under their benevolent ruler Stalin have decided that they needed to industrialize and make industry, even if it kills alot of their population. Okay, so maybe the Central American state already knew about our imperial ambitions, cause they started crying like a baby, and now the rest of the world think we are the new bully in the neighborhood. They ought to fix their own states than picking on us for being so über successful. Finally, the war starts.

SlXecEt.jpg

I heard the Honduran president Miguel Paz Barahona cursed our nation into kingdom come with his Papist outcries.

So the 1st Corps under the command of General Nathaniel Wallace invaded the country with the creepiness of modern American militarism. Our nation has never been so imperialistic since the days we defeated the Spanish and got all their worldly possessions in America and Asia. Our 1st Corps 42,000 men strong, ended up occupying the regions of the Central American state in no time flat. Finally, he went up and found their general. I frankly find these new "airplanes" and armors" pretty overpowering to the small young republic, but what can I say: It is the American way to be overpowered.

CbWT5Fh.png

The battle of Comayagua say the president of Honduras flee the country and find safe keeping in El Salvador.

Finally, the local governments (or at least what was left of them) finally accept the government of the US to surrender. I have to admit, the new speck of blue in the map of our United States make me proud to be an American. Woot! Our fellows in England though have nothing to woot about, cause I heard this morning that the general strike that the socialist have been planning for a bit now has come into effect and destabilized the country. The monarchs of the British Empire have made their way to Canada for the time being, and now the worse thing that has happened after the Russian revolution is another communist state in the world. It seems the sun finally set on the Brits.

RBa3qEZ.jpg

Now we can trike Canada, and by jingo we can do it now in the middle of an economic boom!

The Fascist in France finally beat the last Bonaparte in their civil war, and now all of Europe is at peace. Nothing is even better in America, as we build our armies large than they have been since the war between the states. Coolidge already has been clear his intentions to annex the other Central American states before the century is out. I bet we can do it in less then 50 years though, cause once this train is turning, there is no going back. In China, which finally decided to overthrow the Qing government there, a new Red-head was spotted somewhere in the South of China by the name of Mao Zedong. Man this red tide is going over the world! At least here it has not grown too big. Back in the states, Coolidge made his promise clear by declaring war on the Central American republic of El Salvador.

1q8lnit.jpg

The Turks are going suicidal here, but that does not compare to the Peruvian nation. Perhaps we ought to get the South American States some time, eh?

The same thing occurs like our last war, but this one lasted longer cause the 1st Corps was away at the border between us and Canada (apparently for "training"). Our nation is just getting bigger and bigger every day, huh. Even if this war did last for over a year, the important thing is that we got more land. El Salvador though is still too small for our nation.

uNce5WX.jpg

Our blue region is growing even more. Huzzah!

We celebrate this victory by nominating the state of Puerto Rico into the state as the 50th state in the Union. I got folks there who immigrated to the small island back from the days of the Civil War to avoid the draft the confederate government was handing out to all able-bodied men. Coolidge once more later today enacted new legislation that called for the establishment of a national healthcare law for all citizens. Of course, it is not getting there yet, but it is trinket enough for me to be of some effect. But alas, our boom times have come crashing down...

PRnL84M.png

I ended up loosing all me money from the Bank this afternoon!

Apparently, our government thought it was a great idea to think about Mass State-Media and the International Stock Market. Piety on those investors. Herbert Hoover may of inherited this mess from Coolidge, but I think that the worse will come to pass over time. We need to annex more states, not try to annex ourselves into submission! The 1st thing Hoover did was enact new law to upgrade the healthcare Coolidge started to "low" healthcare. Honestly, while it is a welcome, what I need from our government is legislation to get us out of this mess and not to bring me back to health, because I am still perfectly healthy. Hover also decided to bring the idea of Street Roads into the government think tank and even upgrade healthcare to acceptable levels. At least here in New York city, the construction of the Empire State Building is done.

OtqWzqB.png

My son Tyler is soon going to work there. He seems pretty eager for someone whose job it is to just sort out papers all day.

Hoover later decided to enact good healthcare, bringing us to the levels of our British counterparts and the Swiss. He also decided to continue the legacy of Coolidge by declaring his intentions to annex the Central American State of Guatemala. Honduras was too big yet too under populated, El Salvador was too small in general, but Guatemala with their large population and their Iron-producing region near Mexico is just right! By jingo, we got ourselves a plan running! Hoover also went to the think tank and ordered for "Fractional Reserve Banking" to be researched. Frankly, we do need more money things, because the depression is going to bog us down. On top of that, he finally did something with our nation's educational problem by enacting an acceptable school system into our constitution! Meanwhile in Germany...

xfcPDem.jpg

At least they also got the guts to make their own roads.

This time, the think tank has started to develop the military idea of Combined Arms. Our military will need to keep in touch with the rest of the world if we want to be a world power. Guatemala, actually, will be our next target, according to Hoover. Their army is relatively small, but ours is bigger, and better! I have to admit, it went the same as the 1st war we have in Central America, and it is not worth telling a story, but still we now have more Iron! Even after we won the war, the people decided that Hoover had to go, and in comes FDR who bares the famous "Roosevelt" name.

17iEAEw.jpg

A guy with action...and action now!

FDR then decided to put in hos new deal policies. Let's get the ball roolling!

BvYZA1x.png

In his acceptance speech, Roosevelt declared, "I pledge you, I pledge myself to a new deal for the American people… This is more than a political campaign. It is a call to arms." The election campaign was conducted under the shadow of the Great Depression in the United States, and the new alliances which it created. Roosevelt and the Democratic Party mobilized the expanded ranks of the poor as well as organized labor, ethnic minorities, urbanites, and Southern whites, crafting the New Deal coalition. I myself voted for FRD cause I needed action and action now. And boy did he deliver it.

Interesting new style, but at some points it almost feels like a Stetson-waving caricature (this is possibly intentional).

There should be a bookmark below the default 1836 one that says "KAISERREICH 1921" or something like that. If you use the 1836 one, then the game may not be what it should be.

Excuse my ignorance here, but what exactly is "Stetson-waving caricature" literacy way of writing? For all I know, I got this type of writing after reading the book How Few Remaining by Harry Turtledove with main characters that are seen a few times in random order and having their stories explain what is going on in the world. Bart will not be the only fellow whom we hear from in this AAR.

Poor Honduras...

Yes Honduras was poor but under the Guiding hand of the Empire of Liberty, It will be rich instead!

Mhmm. They will be enlightened by the grand ideal of Liberty and Democracy!

No, no, excuse my vague phrasing. I meant that their were some times while I was reading where the character felt less like a real person, and more a stereotypical Texan jingoist, complete with yee-haws, oil money, and Stetson hat waving. This probably shouldn't be a problem if you are switching the storyteller to different characters as you go along (something that should keep it pretty interesting as well).

As a Texan, I find that insulting.

Actually...I am a Texan :D I got the inspiration from Theodore Roosevelt from the novel How Few Remaining. He acted exactly like what you said, except he was from New York. Bart here does come from the South (mostly Virginia) so of course he has some jingo in him.

As a Texan, I find that insulting.

I guess....not all Texans are like that, but for the sake of honesty, we could say Texans back then in the early 1920s might of been like that.

I didn't say anything about Texans really being like that...just that those are the stereotypes. What else would you expect from them

A promising start! I'm always a sucker for unconventional writing styles in my AARs, and the combination of a late start and a novel scenario to play with should make things especially interesting.

I did notice that your population is dramatically lower than that of the actual USA in 1921. Do you know what's up with that? At least you make some major strides in growth through your session.

That isn't the total population, that is the Adult male population, the game could handle having to calculate for over 1 billion people, maybe in VIC IV or V, but not at the moment.

mhmm, that is true. I saw 1st hand in the "Victoria Ultimate" mod posted in the mods thread had that type of population, but it causes massive lag.

Guys, the next update will be out today. I was not able to do it yesterday cause I was planning it with another fellow writer of mines back in the real world. Therefore, I'm sure the next character shall be better (and far less Texan) than Bart.

~I Observations of the American Army at War I~
1933-1942

For great Soviet Union! (and Socialism)

My name Nathaniel Zummerman. As I am into the havings of terrible English, I try to communicate with AmeriKans. Luckily, I has translator to act with me. Anyways (speaking with me translator) Benedikt Fedor, the Soviet military chief-of-staff, sent me to America to observe their recent operations in Canada, code named "War Plan Red". The ambassador to the US, Ivan Putin, gave me permission to go to the American front in the war against Canada and the Workers Commonwealth. (The British Socialist have finally over taken their monarchs and join us in the glorious revolution!)

2UNdZ5n.jpg

I was to be into the assigning s of General Lucas Johnson of the 5th Korps of the US Army.

So I made the quick trip to Watertown, Canada via one of these new cars. It took a while near the rout to Buffalo, America to get to the front. There, I met Johnson with his general's staff. Their plan as simple and to the point: Occupy all the Canadian regions that border America. One of their soldiers acting as scouts reported that there were no Canadian troops in the town, but there were the town folks who were obviously against any annexation of their homeland to America. As a native of the Rostov Oblast and a direct descendant of the Don Cossacks in the region, I knew that if the main army were to want to occupy the region, they'd need to deal with the local population who might resist attack. I know this because my own descendants fought off the Tsarists troops back in 1789 when the Tsar attacked our humble Cossack Host.

Anyways, Johnson's army ended up occupying Watertown, but when they finished it, one of the scout received reports that a large Canadian Army of 39,000 men lay guarding Ottawa, the capital of Canada. I overheard one of Johnson's staff members, David McClellan advise against an assault, saying "Sir, the Canadian Army there is too large, and have a large amount of artillery units that could pound us to kingdom come!" I felt I had to intervene at this point, saying "Indeed so, your Excellency. Should the army attack the Canadians, you risk losing quite a large amount of your men." You also risk losing the respect of your fellow generals you Yankee, I thought in my head, but I decided to keep that in me.

In the end though, Johnson went ahead with the attack. About 4 hours into the fight, I realized General Johnson's army was losing men, and at a fast rate. It was a empirical that the last second, the 7th Korps of the US went in and saved us from any more risks of losing. They ended up routing the Kanadian army in the end, thanks to the Amerikan's new experimental "airplane" and Armor there. I noticed that the airplane was very advantageous when picking out lone snipers from their hiding spots, as well as harassing the Kanadian's guns.

03PHLos.jpg

I myself barely managed to keep myself alive. A shell landed not too far from me and took of someone's head.

Back in the states, I read from the Yankee's newspapers "The New York Times" that the working men in Puerto Rico have decided to revolt. FOR GREAT SOCIALISM *ahem* sorry, so anyways they revolted, but the fat cats in the territories government have decided to find out who the working men are and arrest them. Damned Capitalist pigs...

UtyW2gq.jpg

I am into the disappointing s of the government there.

I was shown progress of the American invasion of Canada, and I then realized that all the major Canadian armies were in the East around Ontario and Quebec. With them fallen, the country is now defenseless and at the mercy of the Americans.

uVTgLKN.jpg

So Amerika can into the winnings, eh?

Back down South, I learn the American Army at Central America managed to occupy the British colony of Belize without any trouble at all.

lbdcN1e.jpg

I must call Fedor about the Yankee's advancements!

The war is going very good. I kept on following Johnson's army into the depths of the Canadian wilderness, and it is very cold, but not as cold as Rossya!

5HYpV8T.jpg

The Kanadians are not putting up a good fighting with the Yankees.

From what I heard as well, the Americans keep a "think tank" to research different techs. This time, I heard that Hydroelectric Dams are in the list. Perhaps one could be installed in the Volga river. Anyways...this increase in the research capacity of the Americans is something to behold, huh? I mean, they pride themselves in everything!

ZDy9uXG.jpg

Piety they do not know about the glories of Socialism.

Finally, the Yankees annex Canada. I bet the British Prime Minister had a heavy heart in Canada when he learned that they surrendered to the Americans.

voAbuol.jpg

All that blue...Fedor will not be happy about this.

To celebrate this new annexation, the Americans seem to of wanted to put into their think tank Border Fortifications, I suppose if the Brits decide to land any troops in America at all. From what I have heard from now, Johnson's army has been sent to go and occupy the British Islands of the Caribbean for the interest of getting the staunch British to surrender and see that Canada has been annexed. Also I heard that the Imperial German government, the Japanese and the Chinese governments have all offered their reorganizations of the Soviet government. They'd better, as for us to not export our glorious revolution to them. Also the think tank in Washington has ordered the research of Submarines to undermine the British rule of the seas in the Atlantic Ocean. Finally now, the war is over.

wsGN9p3.jpg

The Yankees have indeed made a name for themselves.

From what I heard, the Americans have decided to take the decision to go ahead and see that our Soviet government is the only government in Rossya. For that, Stalin is pleased that his nation is getting accepted very much. Besides the Americans insulting the French Attache (which we have as allies ever since the Great War) our relations improved, and I'm glad this is happening. Our national embassy in Washington has been built, and now I have myself a friendship with Johnson. I've also been hearing about "Individualism" around the US. This thought is banned in Rossya, cause we believe in the firm belief that the individual must contribute to the State for the welfare of the country. This I cna not say what my opinion, lest Fedor telegrams Moscow and they send me to Siberia...anyways, the Japanese have done done it with their "Yamato-class" battleships.

gQzP2RE.jpg

We must get revenge from our lost 30 years ago!

At least finally, President F.D. Roosevelt of the Yankees have decided it would be in their best interest to ally with great mother Rossya with a same common interest: Germany.

WVt5oRs.jpg

United in Labour...wait, they are Capitalist!

The Americans are now researching radar systems...piety, they can not deal with our rocket trucks! We used them to a great effect in the war against the Turks, but perhaps we could do a trade with the Yankee's airplanes, eh? We also learned that because of a move of the Yankee Socialist in their "senate" Woman are now given the right to vote! I nearly laughed by socks off, for the Female in Soviet Union is usually confined to the kitchen, but for them to play a part in government is like giving a child the right to make military commands! Although I mist admit Yankee Woman are more involved in their politics than our Woman. For that, I give them their respects. The think tank has come up with Rocket Artillery and also Combined Arms maneuver. So much for that deal....

The Yankees have declared once more a war of conquest against the Central American Republics. This time, they target a fellow Socialist state, Nicaragua!

Ms6HFXu.jpg

Stalin ordered the alliance dissolved for a bit until the war ended. He could not take the revolution losing ground in America.

The war was swift, from what I read from the New York Times. To be honest, these folks had it coming.

xG17sYH.jpg

The surrender of General Jesus Estrada ended the war of conquest in Central America, at least for Nicaragua.

The Think tank ordered for Battleship Battle Fleet to be researched. Their navy is indeed a bit small, but I don't blame them.

Now, as I reside in Washington, I have myself a drink of Vodka (imported from the Don region) and watch the sun set in the distance. I knew that the sun has set for the British, and that a new sun was rising for the Americans. Stalin will have to keep an eye on this new superpower in the world, lest we ourselves find us at odds against the Yankees. For now, the only thing that unite us is the common hatred for the German Empire, with their reactionary Kaiser on the seat of power in Europe. Perhaps at some point, we shall take the opportunity to attack the Germans in a great sacred war and get back what was once ours!

(//Thats all for this update. Thanks for your comments about the AAR so far!)
