Report on Commissary-General Jackie Buckland of Velutarian Free Confederacy’s reign

(2321 - 2341)

By Chief Chronicler Fredrik Wester

The first two years of Commissary-General Jackie Buckland’s reign was peaceful. That does not entail it was without incident, though. The cold war between the Jusskan Corporation and the Velutarian was simmering. Claims to each other’s systems was issued, fleets standing against each other, smaller and bigger diplomatic incidents happened as the two civilizations slowly moved towards war.

Early on in her reign, Sutharia was finally officially an ecomenopolis. Totally enshrined in cities, of many layers one might add, the capital was nothing like the planet of old. A new age had dawned. Coupled with this marvel of engineering, the economy kept booming and the Confederate navy was getting more and more powerful.

It was not a surprise that in 2323 it would then be tested against the equally powerful Jusskan navy. Mid year, a state of war existed between the two, and within relatively short time the war was won. The Jusskan, being in a war with another neighbor, did not have the stomach to wage a war for long, and relinquished control of eight systems and one planet. Not only did they lose control of the territory claimed from the Ishni, but also bordering systems.

During this war, an important step in robotics were made. Already a race heavily reliant on robots before interstellar travel was invented, the Velutarian robot population was now greatly upgraded all over the Free Confederacy. So much improved, the robots were now titled Super-Robots, to distinguish them from what came before.

After the war, which had been won so easily, the galactic powers that be wanted more and closer interaction with the Confederacy. The K’Takno Republican Commonalities proposed a Commerical Pact, as did the Grollferp Dynastic Union. The Cooperative of Ponsave viba-Filavv on their side wanted and got a migration treaty.

In another marvel of engineering, the two gateways the Free Confederacy owned was finally made online again, as new technology made it possible to master gateway travel. To the Commissary-General’s delight, both could be used to send forces deep into Jusskan space.

And so, in late 2338, the Velutarian Free Confederacy was again at war with the Jusskan Corporatyion and their allies the Anathurian Sacred Covenant. By the time Jackie Buckland left office, the war was all but won.

Map of the Confederacy anno 2341

The Commissary-General left a much enlarged and stronger Free Confederacy, in a winning position against their nemesis the Jusskan Corporation.

IGG4Dkk.png

The economy was stronger than ever and much excess resources could be sold at the intergalactic market.

During the reign of Jackie Buckland, two new planets were colonized. The first was Narvik, a savanna world of much space and opportunities.

SXqVTvj.png

The second was Kristiania, another savanna world of almost the same size and much potential for mining.

Our neighbors

To everybody’s surprise, the Velutarian Free Confederacy met a new civilization during Jackie Buckland’s reign. The Vhemm Vestige is a reptilian ancient power, a so called fallen empire, that is overwhelmingly powerful, but keeps to themselves.

The Vhemm are mighty, but for now at least they remain a sleeping giant. Hopefully they stay that way for some time to come.

Incidentally, which Leviathan is that in the Cothium system? I can't recall it being mentioned before.

The Leviathan is, if I remember correctly, the Stellar Devourer. :) At the moment I'm just letting them be.

Those pesky corporations getting in the way of the confederacy! A nice period of consolidation and advancement, looking forward to more
Yeah, they need(ed) to go. :) Progress is not to be found in a society run by corporations, amirite? ;)

I do! And so much good it gives me! :D I was surprised by finding the FE so late too, it was found in the middle of known civilizations by an automated scout ship. I guess they really did not want to get into contact unless forced to. :p

Report on Commissary-General Kabir Shastri of Velutarian Free Confederacy’s reign

(2341 - 2353)

By Chief Chronicler Fredrik Wester

By the time Commissary-General Kabir Shastri started his reign, the war against the Jusskan was going quite well. The first two years of his tenure was a continuation of this success, ending with a peace gaining the Free Confederacy two new planets – among them the capital world of the Jusskan – as well as sixteen star systems.

Upon the completion of the war, the Commissary-General announced his intention to conquer the void in a new way: The first of the Velutarian space habitats begun construction in the Velutarian home system and would soon be ready for colonization.

7xVzxR1.png

Not resting on his laurels, the Commissary-General then announced it was well past time to reform the Confederate government to become more meritocratic. New talents awaited in the wing, he declared, and nothing except incompetence should stop them from succeeding.

In 2352, a year after his releection, the Commissary-General then negotiated a research agreement with the Grofflerp Dynastic Union. He was more popular than ever and rumors had it he was readying up for another war with the Jusskan, this time ending their threat for good. However, his health caught up with him. In the end of 2353, he fell ill with pneumonia, which developed into complications and finally death. It would be up to his successor to fullfill his many plans for the Confederacy.

Map of the Confederacy anno 2353

By the time of the Commissary-General’s untimely death, the galaxy was regarding the Velutarian Free Confederacy as no longer an upstart protected by her mighty allies. The Confederacy stood on her own, albeit together with said allies.

x39EJae.png

To her west, the United Bilnoc Polity and her federation allies looked warily on the growing power of the Velutarian Free Confederacy, but they were keeping to themselves and a wary and cold peace reigned. To her north, west and east the now all but decapitated Jusskan menace reigned – for now. To her south and west, her allies reigned supreme, and the potential enemies in that direction was of no power to oppose them.

x39EJae.png

During the reign of Shastri, one planet and one habitat had been settled. The planet was Gjovik, a savanna world which already was producing a fair amount of surplus energy for her age.

goREe7u.png

The habitat was almost finished established as an independent entity at the time of the death of the Commissary-General, and much optimism was held around this new way to colonize space.

Yeah, we're moving hard forward! :D
With the breaking of the Jusskans, the Free Confederacy has truly come into its own.
And it's only going to be the beginning, I'm sure. :)

Glad you enjoy it, I try to focus on my close areas most updates with some galaxy wide in between. :) And yes, habitats! I may or may not have ordered the contruction of 3-4 more...

Report on Commissary-General Hangwani Jomo-Gbomo of Velutarian Free Confederacy’s reign

(2353 - 2371)

By Chief Chronicler Fredrik Wester

The reign of Commissary-General Hangwani Jomo-Gbono saw wide reaching changes to the Free Confederacy on several levels. It started with the continuing development of the robotic population from Super-Robots to the newly termed Ultra-Super-Robots – although this was merely the beginning.

fKWfoE6.png

In our federation allies the Proval a new species reached space flight, as the Gurite Union was enlightened by the Proval and made a vassal realm and federation member under them. As such, the federation now consisted of no less than four member states, although differing in strength.

In mid 2355, the end of the Jusskan Corporation was announced by the Commissary-General, as our federation declared war on them, the goal being to annex nine star systems and vassalize the Jusskan under the Velutarian. The war went swimmingly well, but the approach to orbital bombing had to be changed mid war, when the Galactic Community decided to ban indiscriminate bombardment – a policy the Velutarian Free Confederacy at the time practiced.

Tgi9E6f.png

The Confederacy was thus in breach of galactic law and was charged with potentially damning consequences if the policy was not changed. As such, the Commissary-General announced the Velutarian Free Confederacy’s will to comply to galactic law and changed the policy to selective bombardment.

The same year also offered other changed. The first pre-sapient species within our borders to be uplifted, the Adnoran species, joined the galactic community. They were few, but a welcome addition to our Confederacy.

rRlDq0z.png

xR6tseh.png

More widely important though, was the decision to pursuit both synthetic workers and sapient AI, both deemed by some as a dangerous step into the unknown by the Velutarian. The Commissary-General was adamant this was the right choice, though and ordered both to be pursued.

The next year, 2358, while the war in the Jusskan territory still raged, a second habitat was begun built, this time above our capital world. Soon, several other habitats were in the planning or started constructed.

The year 2358 also brought peace, as the Jusstkan gave in and handed over ten star systems, a planet and submitted as vassals to the Velutarian Free Confederacy. Peace did not last long, though. The Zenak Nucleus, a robotic species hellbent on extermination of all biological life, was now on our borders through our vassals the Jusstkan. While the robots at the time was weak, one should not let such a threat remain in case of later weakness the Commissary-General reasoned. And thus war was once again a fact in 2359.

With the war raging and going well, research on synthetic workers and sapient AI was concluded. This alongside with being at war with a robotic species made the Commissary-General pause to think. Our own robots were sapient and in every way like their biological counterparts except for the exterior. They could potentially become a fifth coloumn if not treated fairly. As such, he declared the immidiate change in laws in the Free Confederacy for AI rights from servitude to citizen rights. All over Velutarian space sapient robots rejoiced.

Then, the Commissary-General announced something even more revolutionary. The future of the Velutarian Free Confederacy was a synthetic one, he declared. The Flesh is Weak and is holding us back. With synthetic implants and artificial engineered body parts, we could live much longer than ever before. In 2363, the project to change all inhabitants of the Velutarian Free Confederacy into cyborgs were begun.

The year after, the war against the Zenak Nucleus were finally won, with their complete annexation. Two systems were awarded the Velutarian Free Confederacy directly, with the rest being awarded to our vassals the Jusstkan.

However, only two years later the entirety of the Jusstkan Corporation was integrated directly into the Free Confederacy. They were now an integral part of the Free Confederacy itself. At this time the Commissary-General had been reelected and plans were started to subjugate the only remaining unknown in the west of the federation. The Fareen Accord were xenophobic and in constant quarrel with the Zracon on their borders.

Before anything could come from this, however, the Commissary-General died. Feeling well and fit as an ox, according to his staff, he one day just collapsed. It was discovered he had suffered a massive brain haemmorage, and before he could be sent to the hospital, this great man was gone – forever.

Map of the Confederacy anno 2371

In 2371, the map of the galaxy showed two major power blocks. The Velutarian and their allies in the north west, and the United Bilnoc Polity and their allies in the north east. The Bilnoc was the only one rivalling the Velutarian in strength, with an estimated equal economy and technology level, but with a superior fleet strength.

Together with their allies, the Velutarian would be able to keep them at bay or even advance, should a war come to pass. But experience showed that the Xracon Union and Proval Citizen Republic was wary of engaging in direct combat. For now, at least, there existed an uneasy peace between the two power blocks, and the focus for the Velutarian and Zracon was in the west, with the Fareen.

The economy of the Velutarian Free Confederacy was at the death of her leader stronger than ever. Resources were flowing out of every planet and habitat, as their factories and workers produced the best wares possible. Much were sold, more were used to fuel the growth of the economy – and, importantly – the fleet.

The Velutarian had under Commissary-General Hangwani Jomo-Gbomo settled three new colonies, with an additional two being planned at his untimely death. The first was Minnesund, an orbital habitat already producing a surplus of unity and science.

The second was Alesund, a savanna world which was so recently established by his death not much was produced there yet.

Last was the continental world of Fantoft, which was almost ready to support themselves at the time of the Commissary-General’s death.

More widely important though, was the decision to pursuit both synthetic workers and sapient AI, both deemed by some as a dangerous step into the unknown by the Velutarian. The Commissary-General was adamant this was the right choice, though and ordered both to be pursued.

Don't worry citizens, all synthetic workers and sapient AI systems have been given one copy of the Three Laws of Robotics. To share.

Well, I DID give them citizen rights... :D ;)
Just starting to proceed to the next evolutionary state.
Indeed, the future is clearly robotics.

When toasters gets rights ...
...uprisings don't happen. ;) Also, toasters are people too! Especially when sentient.

Now now, toasters can be sarcastic little gits. One only has to watch Red Dwarf to know that.
...or depressed. So, so very depressed.

A very human feeling, so to speak.
