Oh, I can assure you other planets have it worse. I kept being in the position of having massive unemployment and lack of space to make jobs. Really frustrating, especially while the economy was so shitty. But, let's say, you haven't seen the worst yet.

Report on Commissary-General Raimundo Ramirez of Velutarian Free Confederacy’s reign

(2277 - 2288)

The new Commissary-General did not waste time. Two weeks after his inauguration, he ordered a full-scale assault on the Ishni Regime and by extension their allies the Anathurian Sacred Covenant and the Independent Kammarian Union. The two allies were considered an afterthought, and no fighting was expected between the Velutarian Free Confederacy and their allies and the two far off empires.


The war went overwhelmingly well, with little opposition and only travel time restricting progress. The main Ishni navy was nowhere to be seen, until the latter part of the war. The allies of the Free Confederacy were, as usual, useless though – keeping away from battle the entire war.


In early 2285, treachery happened in Hamar, one of the core Velutarian worlds. After a long time of discontent, strife and mafia dealings on the planet, and seemingly no progress made from the central government, the planet rebelled and declared independence. The Commissary-General is said to calmly have said “enjoy your independence while it lasts” and ordered further incursions into Ishni space.

Weeks after the rebellion, a massive fleet battle between the Ishni and Velutarian forces finally happened. The Velutarian had expected help from their allies, who followed the fleet, but as the Velutarian fleet jumped into hyperspace to meet the Ishni fleet, the allies held back.


The following battle was a slaughter for both sides and half the Velutarian fleet was lost, but victory was achieved. With the peace treaty signed and the last Ishni held planets annexed into the Zracon and Velutarian realms, the Ishni did no longer exist as an entity. Their old systems not annexed by the Confederacy or their allies became unclaimed and a race to colonize the areas ensued by all neighbors.


The Commissary-General was not finished with war though. Even as science ships and construction ships moved to the now unclaimed space in the north-east, he ordered the Confederate fleet to Hamar. The rebels were chanceless and soon buckled under the pressure from their old comrades and countrymen. On election day the rebels surrendered, a great victory for the Commissary-General. However, it was too late. He lost the election to Claudia Gallo, who promised the Confederacy peace and rebuilding, as well as peaceful expansion into the void left by the Ishni – and the many colonizable planets therein.

Report on Commissary-General Claudia Gallo of Velutarian Free Confederacy’s reign

(2288 - 2298)

As promised, the reign of Commissary-General Claudia Gallo was a peaceful one, marked by the continued exploration and expansion into fallen Ishni space. By the time her tenure ended, about half of the old Ishni space was under Velutarian control, and as of yet the other neighbors that could claim it had yet to move. Still, it was a race against the clock. Twelve systems claimed, fourteen to go.


Except for the expansion and bettering of the economy, not much of importance happened during this reign. Two planets that had been planned to be colonized under her predecessor, was. One more was by the time her reign ended almost finished colonized. And three more was planned and under preparation. However, her reign would be a one term reign, as her predecessor Raimundo Ramirez would do an unexpected return to office in the next election. And this time, he would stay for a long time.

The map of the Free Confederacy anno 2298 was as different to the map a few decades ago as could be imagined. Once small and locked from expansion by two friendly and one hostile power, the hostile power was now gone and rapid expansion was ongoing.

The economy was booming and the Confederacy was even able to sell a sizeable amount of food and minerals on the intergalactic market. Optimism for the future was rampant.

The colony of Dombas, colonization initiated by the Commissary-General’s predecessor, was florishing. A continental world in the Ish sector – that is close to the old capital world of the Ishni – it had much potential.

The desert world of Varanger, also initiated colonization by the previous Commissary-General, was also in good shape – even better than Dombas in fact. Also in the Ish sector, it was growing fast.

The last colony established during the reign of Gallo, Fredrikstad, was a big tomb world with much potential for becoming a metropolis in the future. It was not yet finished colonized at the time of her reign ending.

Report on Commissary-General Raimundo Ramirez of Velutarian Free Confederacy’s second reign

(2298 - 2321)

The second reign of Commissary-General Raimundo Ramirez would prove to be the longest yet in the history of the Free Confederacy. Not ending before midway in his fourth term, due to his old age, it would see a massive infrastructure program – greatly improving the economy of the Confederacy – as well as continued expansion into former Ishni space.

His most lasting legacy would be the transformation of the capital of the Free Confederacy and home of our species into an ecumenopolis – a city world. Taking most of his 23 years of reign to prepare and implement, with much of the infrastructure having to be converted to cities before the final step was inititated at the end of his third term, it would not see its frutuition before after his death.

Having seen reelection at the age of 105, an age where most Velutarian would have retired a long time ago – much less seen reelection to the galactic stage – he would become our oldest leader at this point by far. However, life has its end, always. In the end of January 2321, the heart of the Commissary-General finally gave in, as he was in a holocall with the Zracon Commissary-General. He was 108 years old and the entire Free Confederacy mourned his loss.

The Commissary-General left a much enlarged but - more importantly - much stronger economically, Free Confederacy. In former Ishni space, the Jusskan Corporation had moved in, and relations were getting strained by the time of the Commissary-General’s unfortunate departure.

Under his reign, three new planets finished colonization. First was Gol, a desert world that greatly contributed to the economy when it came to energy and minerals.

Secondly was the arctic world of Spitsbergen, which soon became quite urbanized.

Lastly was the ocean world of Follo, which quickly became a hub for energy production in the Free Confederacy.
