Well, hello there fellow forumites!

It's me, Nikolai, back again with another story of the wonders of the galaxy! :)

This time, I've decided to go back to a style I did back in 2017, with my Republic of Sol AAR.

Each chapter will chronicle a Commissary-General of the Velutarian Free Confederacy's reign, it being one month or 20 years, as my first ruler had. :) So length might vary. ;) I will try to write up and play one reign at a time, as to keep to the "chronicle as we go" apprach I want to use.

So who knows how long I survive, in all my games after the last DLC all my neighbours are overwhelming or superior when I first meet them.

Report on Commissary-General Grizelda Batista of Velutarian Free Confederacy’s reign

(2200 – 2220)

By Chief Chronicler Johan Andersson

Twenty years have gone by since we reached the stars – fully, not only locally. Twenty years that has transformed Velutarian society. Twenty years since we took our first baby steps into the void of the stars and discovered what marvels – and dangers – that lurked out there. Twenty years of Batista rule.

As the Confederacy thanks her for her service and the baton is sent to her successor, I have by the Senate been asked to chronicle hers, and future Commissary-Generals’, reigns for the archives. What is beyond doubt, is that Grizelda Batista will be remembered for centuries to come.

Her reign saw us colonize three alien worlds and start the colonization of further two. It also saw the contact with a myriad of alien civilizations, all hemming us in, but only one which is hostile to our presence. The key year is 2207. While the Voltaum’s ancient presence, and long gone disappearance, was discovered in 2201, it was in late 2207 we met the Citizen Republic of Proval, our good and loyal friends. Within few years, we knew of five alien civilizations in our neighbourhood, as well as massive alien creatures lurking in space itself. In addition, we discovered a primitive civilization within our current borders. The two terms of Batista were truly a marvel.

The Ethir Civilization are passively observed for the time being.

Map of the Confederacy anno 2220

The Velutarian Free Confederacy consists of 13 star systems, of which six has inhabited planets. Among these, the two last colonized are being colonized by the Lithoid Zri, as they are uninhabitable by Velutarian and our robots are not capable of controlling a planet on their own – yet.

The first and most prestigious of our planets are of course our ancestral home; Sutharia. Inhabited by us and our loyal robot servants – of which we have relied on for a couple centuries at this point – it is a savanna world.

Our first colony was Trondheim, also a savanna world as our home planet. It is located in the Betria system and is yet small compared to Sutharia. It is growing quickly though.

Our second colony is Bergen, another savanna world of equal size and population to Trondheim, situated in the Nembus system. It experiences a bit of unrest at the moment of this report, but plans are made to alleviate the situation.

Our third colony is Oslo, an arid world not entirely suited to our physiology, but still livable enough. It is situated in the Trijam system. It has – for the time being – a rather small population, as it was colonized late in the Commissary-General’s second term.

As of the end of Batista’s term, two planets are under colonization, by the aforementioned Zri, and not yet able to support themselves independently.

The first of these is Tunsberg, a continental world in the Betria system, same as Trondheim. It is a rather small world but will surely soon enough contribute to the Confederacy.

The second of the Zri colonized worlds is Lillehammer, an ocean world situated in the Dodonnam system. It is slightly bigger than Tunsberg.

Our neighbors

So far, the Confederacy has met five spacefaring civilizations. The most terrifying – and yet bizarrely cute - is also the last met; the Penthulan Throng. These cute looking peacocks are a ravenous hive, devouring all it passes. Thankfully they reside on the other side of our friends the Proval, who are strong and friendly. The hive controls only one planet at the time of writing, but consists of as many as 43 billion souls – if such a term can be used on demons like them.

The first civilization we met was our dear friends and allies the Citizen Republic of Proval. Communications were established in late 2208, and by the middle of 2213 both a non-aggression pact, a commercial pact, a research agreement, a migration treaty and a defensive pact was formed between our two civilizations. They inhabit four planets and count 50 billion souls.

The second civilization we met was the hostile Ishni Regime, a threat to our well-being and already a declared rival of our friends of Proval. They inhabit three planets and count 48 billion souls. They control the only known abandoned gateway in the galaxy, a construction it is paramount we gain access to in due time.

The third civilization we met was the friendly, yet not yet allied to us, Zracon Union. These fungoids are expanding at an alarming rate and inhabit six planets but count no less than 114 billion souls to our 40 billion Velutarian and 13 billion robots.

The fourth spacefaring civilization we met was the Fareen Accord, on the other side of the Zracon. These humanoids inhabit four planets and number 50 billion souls.

And thus, ends the report.

Report on Commissary-General Haru Goto of Velutarian Free Confederacy’s reign

(2220 – 2230)

By Chief Chronicler Johan Andersson

During the decade the Velutarian Free Confederacy was led by Commissary-General Haru Goto, the security of the Confederacy was secured. Already under the leadership of Grizelda Batista, a warm friendship with the Citizen Republic of Proval had been nurtured.

But under Haru Goto, the Zracon Union became a fast and immensely powerful friend too. This left only one hostile neighbour, the Ishni Regime in the north. In 2225, the Zracon Union chose to guarantee our independence, countering any move from the Ishni Regime, as we now had a guarantee of independence from the Zracon and a defensive pact with the Proval.

2225 and 2226 would prove to be defining years for our relationship with the Zracon, with new agreements being made within months of the guarantee of independence. First, a commercial pact was agreed upon, before a research agreement came. 2226 started with a non-aggression pact being formed, before a formal defensive pact was signed.

It was the end of Haru Goto’s term that would forever change the Confederacy, however. In 2230 the Zracon Union offered us a martial federation, and we gladly accepted. With this new federation in place, we got into contact with several new civilizations, as the Zracon shared their communications with us. Goto also tried to get the Citizen Republic of Proval into our new federation, but the Zracon deemed it too early, and refused their entry.

Map of the Confederacy anno 2230

The Confederacy in 2230 had grown little in terms of territory, but had secured her survival through the new federation, the Cosmic Military Bloc.

The Confederacy had gained two new planets, first of which was Stavanger – a tundra world as of yet lightly populated.

Next was Hamar, another tundra world. Both were settled by the lithoid Zri species.

A planet we have not settled, nor have the ability to, as it is situated far away close to Proval space, is Sol III. Ravaged by nuclear war some time before we discovered it, it is now populated by pre-sapient cockroaches. However, it seems its original inhabitants before the nuclear war was a species closely resembling ours. No DNA could be found, but there are people in our society that speculate that we could be related through some kind of alien experiment, so close are our likeness.

Our neighbors

We have over the last decade gained new contacts, the first of which is the Jusstkan Corporation, whom we met in 2223. This mammalian species lies north of the Ishni Regime and is a megacorporation who inhabit three planets and consist of 53 billion souls.

Next up is the Anathurian Sacred Covenant, whom we met in 2227. These reptilians have been cozying up with the Ishnar Regime and might become a future enemy. They live on three worlds and consist of 52 billion souls.

The Grollferp Dynastic Union is a molluscoid species whom we met after entering the federation with the Zracon. They live on only one planet and consist of 41 billion souls.

The second species we met following our entry into the federation is the K’Taknor Republic Commonwealth, a mammalian species living on four planets and consisting of 54 billion souls.

And then there is the presumed origin of our Zri citizens, although they first came from the Proval to us. The Zri Corporate Holdings live on six planets and consist of 53 billion souls.

Lastly, we have the Cooperative of Ponsava, viba-Filavv, a fungoid species living on two worlds and consisting of 53 billion souls.

And thus, ends the report.

I love getting the cockroaches on Earth! Frankly, their habitability boost is a tad OP, so you'll definitely want to prioritize uplifting them.

Yes. This is a very good idea. Plus this way, you won't have to handle the awkward conversations that happen when your species encounters a lookalike civilization in space.

It's just so touching... after quarelling, selfish humans destroyed each other, innocent cockroaches still remained, keeping the flame of life alive on Sol III.
When you put it like that...:D
I love getting the cockroaches on Earth! Frankly, their habitability boost is a tad OP, so you'll definitely want to prioritize uplifting them.
Unfortunately, my allies the Proval got to them first, being much closer. :)
Yes. This is a very good idea. Plus this way, you won't have to handle the awkward conversations that happen when your species encounters a lookalike civilization in space.
Haha, no. :D

Report on Commissary-General Lina Kreutz of Velutarian Free Confederacy’s reign

(2230 - 2241)

By Chief Chronicler Johan Andersson

The reign of Commissary-General Lina Kreutz saw a potential threat removed, as the Pentrulan Throng, the ravaging swarm, was annihilated by her southern enemies. This made much valuable space unclaimed, and Kreutz ordered much influence used to claim the now vacant space. We managed to claim three systems before being cut off, but unfortunately was too late to secure the fourth, which would have gained us no less than three more colonizable planets, all in one system. We did, however, claim one colonizable planet from this.

Other than that, the Galactic Community was formed, and we gained many new contacts. More on those later. Out of the ashes of the fall of the Pentrulan Throng rose a small and weak civilization, the Raltek Assembly. It was decided to test our so far unproven Confederate navy on this target, and in late 2238 we declared war on the Raltek Assembly.

The next year we had gained control of their system and was about to invade their planet, when it exploded and left no survivors. It turned out their planet was, unknown to us, doomed from an unstable core and simply exploded. Thankfully before our troops could set foot on the surface. We thus won the war by default, but it was a hollow victory, only the smoldering ruins of this once great planet left for us to mine.

The dying planet shortly before it exploded.

Map of the Confederacy anno 2241

After the forming of the Galactic Community, we had a much clearer view of the state of the galaxy, and also got a big surprise I will chronicle below.

Our newest planet is the tundra world of Troms, another planet colonized by the Zri population of the Confederacy.

Our neighbors

With the formation of the Galactic Community, we have met a multitude of new civilizations, and there should be no new contacts not yet reached, except if new aliens species develop interstellar travel at a later point. In all fifteen new civilizations were met during the reign of Lina Kreutz.

The first is the Independent Kammarian Union, a reptilian spcies living on no less than ten planets but numbering 81 billion souls.

Secondly, we have the Aztani Stellar Industries, a molluscoid megacorporation living on one planet and numbering 33 billion souls.

Then there is the Bilnoc United Nations, another molluscoid species living on one planet and numbering 46 billion souls.

The Boki Nation in the galactic south is an avian species living on six planets and numbering 71 billion souls.

Then there is the Confederacy of Moc Krac, an anthropoid species living on two planets and numbering 54 billion souls.

The fungoid traders of Hulfir Trade Union live on four planets and count 68 billion souls.

The Hydari Administration is a reptilian species living on seven planets and numbering 61 billion souls.

The lithoid species Irzuku in the Irzuku League live on nine planets and number a whopping 103 billion souls.

South of our allies the Zracon, a galactic pest in form of the Jurinn Freeholders reside. These reptilian pirates live on no planets but reside in space and harass their neighbours. Unfortunately, they are too strong to take head on, and for now we have to pay tribute.

The fungoid Obevni Nation live on two planets and consist of 51 billion souls.

The machine species the Shazarak Grid reside of four planets and consist of 76 billion machines – we are unsure whether or not they have souls.

The Union of Avar is an avian species living on one planet and consisting of 46 billion souls.

The Zenak Nuclear us another machine species – these are decidedly hostile to biological life. They reside on five planets and consist of 62 billion machines.

And then, we are at the end of our list. And what a curious species this is! The Zracon Empire – no, you did not read that wrong – lies at the other side of the galaxy and consist of Zracon – but not our federation allies the Zracon. It seems unbeknownst to each other there have developed two Zracon civilizations far away from each other. Obviously, some meddling by advanced alien civilizations or even gods must have been happening! These Zracon live on five planets and consist of 70 billion souls.

And thus, ends the report.
