I've stated it before but I think this warrants a post on it's own.
With the new Warfare system, there is also some fear that War will be to abstract, not visible if you can't move units around the map and don't see those tiny pieces hack into each other.
So lets allay some of that fears by showing the War on the map.
Depending on the time an technology the art of war on the map should change.
Early Victorian some sort of smoke in provinces where the fighting is
WW I era, trenches along the whole frontline.
The map itself changes, so that provinces that had been devastated by war (or natural desasters) look devastated on the map. Burning cities, craters something like that...
