I was wondering: Isn't the main info I want about enemy armies their strength and not how many units are in the stack?
Aren't we clicking through all stacks anyway to check their military strength when in war?

Wouldn't it make much more sense to put the army strength number on the world map instead of the unit count? Or both? Like 1340 (6).

Just some thought here.

Okay, it would mean a complete re-design of the banner.... but maybe something for the next AOW.

True-ish. But you only need to mouse-over the stack to see its strength. A nice UI trick I think would be if you have your own stack selected and you mouse over an enemy stack it should indicate the riskiness of the battle that would result if you attacked it with that stack (and any friendly adjacent units). Saves having to look at your own army strength, the enemy's and then figure out how safe the difference is...
