Do we know if offensive armies get any penalties for invading planets that their species are not suited for?

For example all other factors being the same is it easier for an arctic species to invade another arctic planet than a desert planet?

i'm sure that the invading armies are well protected enough to don't be affected by the local atmosphere, as long that the sky is not cloudy with flak explosions and other defense mechanism ;)

"They shall be my finest warriors, these men who give of themselves
to me.
Like clay I shall mould them and in the furnace of war
I shall forge them.
They shall be of iron will and steely sinew.
In great armour I shall clad them and with the mightiest weapons shall they be armed.
They will be untouched by Sleet or Hail; Rain or Shine they shall fight.
They shall have such tactics, strategies and machines that no foe will best them in battle.
They are my bulwark against the Terror.
They are the Defenders of Humanity.
They are my Space Marines
...and they shall know no Weather Penalties.
"

checks out.

While power armor exists as an attachment for your armies and I'm sure it will be very effective in most atmospheres i'm guessing it will be a late mid-game tech. Would be a nice semi-realistic touch though to have to research technologies and attachments depending on what kind of planets one intend to invade.

Bonus points to Balkri and wingren013 for the W40K references though. Here's hoping for a quick mod after release. :)

Actually power armor is one of the first techs the Blorg researched.

Really? I do follow the Blorgs quest for friendship, but apparently not as well as I thought. It seems to me like it should be a later tech, but might just be my love for Warhammer 40K Space Marine Power Armours hyping it up for me. :p

Well fifteen days left til release. I guess I just have to wait and see how the invasions play out. If missing I might give it my first try at modding.

Powered Exoskeletons was the very first Engineer tech Blorgs researched, though Wiz mainly picked it for the RP.

Now I wonder: How does a Blorg in power armor look like? And when does the Fallout 4 mod come out in which you can play as Blorg?

Keeping things in perspective, invasions are going to always be of planets with population, and currently that means breathable atmosphere and a reasonable temperature range and gravity. Even without power armour, your Space Soldiers are going to have appropriate kit for the planet they're atttacking, up to and including sealed suits. Your Space Tanks probably don't much care.

Once your invasion is over is when you face issues of holding a planet your species doesn't like to colonise...
