Then how did Hannibal get his Elephants into Spain when he took his army across the Alps as he did historically? You were saying that elephants were not transported out of Africa?

They were brought as calves to New Carthage in Hispania in around 228 BC by Hannibals brother Hasdrubal, about 10 years before Hannibals campaign to Italy started. Pyrrhus is the only know commander who convoyed adult war-elephants.

Incidently, I wouldn't have any problem if phants could cross straits. But when you can in 20 days transport an elephant army from Carthage and make with them an amphibious assault on Rome, something is not entirely correct in my opinion. Then again, I have other freak obsessions too.

I try to kinda simulate historical legions but it's very hard to pull of.
I use 2 Legions combined. 1 Legions is 4 HI and 2 Archers. So 12 regiments in total. Later on i tend to add some cavalry to the force when they become available. Heavy Cavalry only. I just can't see the Romans going for Horse Archers for all their legions.

Greeks varies. My Spartans i usually give 8 HI, 4 Archers and 3 Cavalry per army.

Well historically the closest you can get in EUR is 3HI + 1A + 1C where all the historical army regiment types are represented (despite the fact that certainly there were mainly HI and cavalry and archers did not reach 1k each) and you reach the usual 5k men. Unfortunately a legion like that with the game mechanics will not work very effectively in combat. Cavalry is always better to have them in pairs (minimum 2 regiments) as they attack the flanks, and archers are very powerful attacking protected by the first line so it is always good to have them at a number wich is 2 regiments lower than your HI. After some combat testing my legions are of 4 HI + 2 A (same as I originally used on my first game :)). I have attachments of 2 cavalry without leader which are independent units and will be used according to need by the basic legions. Having a segmented legion army like this allows you good flexibility colocalising them as needed depending on the opposing army and with very good loyalty balance. Apart from my first game, where I did not know the rules yet, I never had a civil war nor disloyal armies, so everything is very well under control.

Never a civil war! OO;
Now that is impressive.
Your legion composition is indeed quasi same as mine.
