Hi everyone,Can someone tell me please why my army does not replenish after a war.Im only a few years in but what can i do to make them replenish after.
Thanks in Advance :)
Jayteeboy

You can't. Armies do not replenish automatically, you have to recruit more soldiers.

That is an EU3 feature. FtG is an EU2 variant.

Then move you have to merge the two units by making sure they are standing in the same province and using the merge feature...

Found something neat last night while playing... if the troops you want to merge are in the same province as the ones you are creating from scratch, then they automatically get merged once they are created. That's nifty :)

Yep, they merge unless the troops standing in the province are led by a conquistador. That's so you don't forget your new army is led by a 3/0/0 guy (in Europe) and get them wiped out by a sudden rebellion.

What does a 3/0/0 guy mean?
It means it's probably a conquistador in Europe. Move him to another continent and he'll suddenly be competent.

This is the game's way of modeling the fact that most conquistadors only commanded a couple hundred men at most and probably wouldn't have been notable if they'd been European generals. Also it keeps Clive and Cortez from conquering Europe.

That makes sense. Thank you for the answer.

Are conquistadors only created at a predetermined time defined as marionette points out or can they show up as a random event?

BTW, what does the 3/0/0 mean precisely?

I do believe they appear historically only, although their are also events that create them. I don't think those are random events though, not entirely sure to be frank.

3/0/0 refers to 3 units of soldiers, 0 cavalry, 0 artillery.

Precisely, the values for which marionette put arrows: movement, fire, shock. In fact, marionette wanted to stress the fact that Clive is much more powerful than you would expect when reading Michael, as is Cortes by the way. Nevertheless, Michael's remark is absolutely rightful for most conquistadores, such as Panfilo de Narvaez in Cuba or Juan Ponce de Leon in Florida.

Then, would it be safe to say that if you attach a bunch of calvary and artillery to that conquistador (3/6/6), you should have a fairly formidable army outside of Europe.

yes, it would be formidable, I do use that system. Only issue is the conquistors death.

I suggest you never use artillery with him as it will slow him down.

I use about, no more than 5000 infantry and cavalry combined, it seems enough.

btw, use these troops to garrison once you start colonizing
