Hi,

Do they have any use outside occupation template?
To me they look like unnecessary luxury...

Even in that role they're a middle ground option. They do better than pure cav with MP, but worse than light/medium tanks. Even the first tank unlocked cuts casualties by more, though it also costs somewhat more.

In most cases you just load up on horses, slap a MP support on and have done. Most nations that would benefit significantly from conserving manpower are minors who also lack the industry to produce even armored cars in decent quantities. Though even they can eventually use equipment capture and such to outfit some garrisons with former AI tanks.

It is vexing that Pdox mechanically changed resistance in the patch but gated one of the best countermeasures to resistance (collaboration governments) behind DLC. The difference between starting at high compliance vs building it up over most of the game is massive, not just on resistance casualties but also in the value of the land taken.

It is best for recon supply. In my game it add 13 recon vs. 5 from simple recon supply. Also it add a litlle armor for your infantry if you dont use tanks or mechanised version in your template.

Are completely useless. Not much cheaper to make the difference, comparing with light tanks, demand rubber for production, have weaker stats. Don't bother with them, light tanks are better.

I use them they have the same suppression value like cavalry very cheap to produce in big numbers. Also have good recon numbers. I also sometimes roleplay them with countries like Hungary were I form armored cars/truck divisions.

AC is only really useful for a few minors that lack industry to go even for light tanks.
a 40 Widht division can spare some infantary batallion slots for armored cars and will get a small % of hardness and a small % of breaktrough costing a very small amount of factory and fuel.

Its not even close to a tank division but it is A LOT cheaper.
if you're limited to only rifles, a few art pieces. It is worth also having 1-3 factorys on armored cars and go for it. At least you will have a few divisions at full strenght instead of fighting to have 1 LT division full.

For majors it have uses as garrison, as you slow replace horses for armored cars. (it greatly reduce casualities). But i would not worry too much with it until you have a ton of land. (After that you can place 5-10 factorys and work on it as needed).

Also as a recon squad, its by far the best on recon.

but i usually go for LT´s on stationary divisions that have around 20 widht. (that way they get the benefits of armor, hardness and breaktrough but don´t spend fuel ^^. Usually 1 factory is enough to field 30+ divisions if you start in 36).

For Armored cars vs LT´s.

if your doctrine give breaktrough bonus (Mobile warfare / grandbattleplan). Stay with LT´s if possible. They enjoy the breaktrough bonus and can be quite big if you go for the 60% breaktrough bonus of mobile warfare.

otherwise go for armored cars recon (to win most tatic rolls) or truck recon. (minimum to keep speed).
