Hello everyone,

Hope everyone is doing well this Sunday evening. I have been having a blast with Battletech since I purchased it but a few things are nagging me and I decided to bring about the biggest of my gripes here to get your input on. It's pretty straightforward.

Is Armor too weak?

From some of the books I've read and other lore, Mech's armor seems rather weak to me on this game. It's hard to brawl with even a heavy/max armored mech unless you rely on cover, jump jets and other ways to either decrease damage or increase evasion. I feel like the armor is too under powered in this game but wanted to hear what you guys think. Cheers.

That's the novels, which generally follow the rule of cool.

Regarding armor compared to the TT, Battletech actually lets you overarmor the torsos.
Though, compared to TT, it's far easier to land your shots. Which is why we have %DR like Brace, Cover, and Bulwark.

Oh ok, thanks for the information. I have never played TT (would like to someday) xD Good to know. It just feels like this game forces players to play super conservative most times due to armor restrictions relying on things like cover, bulwark, surefooting and the like and that setting aside weapons/equipment for more armor is pointless to a degree because of the rate it gets melted off so easily.

Also @Camicon Dachass, really good stuff you added here too to help me wrap my head around it all lol I can see why the dev's chose to design the game the way they did while still trying to stay true to it's roots. +1 Thanks.

Personally, I put base evasive up to 6/4/2/0 from 3/2/1/0 just to make things less devastating to lighter mechs and punish an all-assault lance.

The armour mechanic in this game always feels strange to me because im used to playing tanks in warthunder where shots can penetrate armour or even bounce right off. I always have to remind myself that the mechs arent just metal boxes like tanks are and the armour is typically sitting on top of solid structure.
