Hi all,

I've made one or two posts on this forum already about armies not obeying commands a.k.a. "chill time" and I thought I'd upload a save to see if anyone can explain to me if there's something obvious I'm missing as to why my armies are occasionally not following their orders. Army 10 is one of my panzer armies and at the beginning of Fall Gelb it was assigned a spearhead directive to seize Calais. They committed to the offensive initially but since the Netherlands surrendered they've just decided to 'chill' and not take part in the rest of the fighting. There is a clear arrow indicating that the army 10 divisions are assigned to the spearhead and it is going towards Calais. Can anyone explain why this is happening please?

It seems that the target zone of the spearhead order (seen when you hover over spearhead) is pointing towards firendly country, towards Netherlands.

If I press ALT and change something of the blue order (lenght of frontline, lenght of target of spearhead, direction of spearhead arrow) it starts working.
Could be a bug of the order due to Netherlands capitulating.

Workaround: Update Orders, if a country capitulates.

Thanks for that. Can I ask what happens to the planning bonus - do you sacrifice this if you change the order?

The planning bonus stays if you change the order, or even if you assign that unit to a completely different order. It is only reduced if you give the units manual move commands. (2% reduction currently IIRC)

@BeauNiddle ,

I believe that letting the AI, Artificial Intelligence, automatically move the units results in a 1% planning decay rate per the defines. Manually moving a unit results in 3% planning decay rate per the defines. Reference the current 1.9.3 defines code below.

Code:
PLANNING_DECAY     0.01
PLAYER_ORDER_PLANNING_DECAY 0.03 Amount of planning lost due to player manual order

Changes to the planning decay rate are undocumented, but can be found by examining older defines files. A summary of the changes can be found in the table below.
