I did send a PM asking the same thing about a week ago. Well, I guess I'm still waiting on what he has to say.:)

I hope that doesn't indicate he has given up the mod, awaiting HoI3. I am positive that no matter the beta testing that occurs, HoI3 will not be fully playable until a few months after release. So that gives us a solid 9 months (or more) for HoI2 enjoyment still.

P.S. Am I correct in assuming both nomonhan and clanjay, as well as myself, would be willing to get this work done?

Shall we begin a to-do list to get the project rolling?

As for integration into your mod, that is great news but, not adaequate for those who don't seek such radical mod changes. Perhaps we could complete a new CCIP release and then you integrate those changes/fixes into your mod.
I don't think my mod is all that radical. The tech tree is almost unchanged from vanilla until 1945. It just adds on afterwards and fills the technological void after 1953 that Paradox created when they released Armageddon. As for events, I've shied away from making major changes except in the post-war period and with surrender events. However I realize I cannot please everybody.
I'm going to continue to incorporate needed changes into my own mod and post my information for the benefit of the CCIP community for those who do not want my mod.
I have created, tested and debugged a fix for the Fading Sun event (Japan 2412) taking into account
1) problems that exist if China does not exist (CHC should get more provinces)
2) problems that take place when China exists (when CHC inherits MAN and MEN the Nationalists end up with it)
I only need the community to answer one question--if Nationalist China does not exist, who should get Taiwan? Should Communist China get it or should Japan retain possession? I personally think that in this case Japan should retain possession but I'll go along with what the community thinks.
When this question is answered I shall post a fix.

I personally don't imagine how it is possible to for a Communist China that was so close to being completely destroyed could have beaten their Nationalist counterparts even before Japan was driven out.

One thing that a CHC player always does is to take the warlords out one by one. But how is that even possible in reality? After all the warlords were all Nationalist, Chiang wouldn't have allowed them to get swallowed by the Communists, even though he himself wanted to get rid of them too. I think this definitely has to be fixed.

Having said that, well, if CHC ever gets the Fading Sun, it definitely should not get Taiwan, as the early policy of the CCP was to support Taiwanese independence(a way to subvert Japanese rule and the later Nationalist government there). It wasn't until when the Nationalists began to lose the civil war that the Communists declared it Chinese territory.

I agree with your points, clanjay.
In the game, many players accomplish things with Communist China that are unrealistic in real life.
Re: Taiwan--Not only are you correct about Communist China's policy at the time but there is another consideration--Japan would not have surrendered anything that the Communists could not compel them to surrender by armed force. Under the terms of the Fading Sun event, they would have been compelled to surrender Korea and anything else they held on the mainland. But there's no way on earth they would have been able to compel them to surrender Taiwan, because while the Chinese can best the Japanese on the Asian mainland, it's another matter to defeat the Imperial Japanese Navy. Given how the Communists failed to take Taiwan from the much weaker Nationalists, I don't see how they could possibly take Taiwan from Japan, which was much stronger at the time. They would need time to build up their navy. By contrast, the ROC had a navy (not that strong but at least they had a navy) and therefore a bargaining chip.

I tested this by loading as Japan out of the 38 scenario and manually triggering this, so I know it works, This is the same way Bitter Peace was fixed. When a province is seceded sequentially to several countries, the last one in the command winds up with it.
There is another issue: If the communists and nationalists are allied at the time of the event, then Nationalist China winds up with Manchuria and Mengukuo when CHC inherits them, So to fix that, I changed event 2414 and had it trigger two new events, put into the file ddccip.txt
(events 2412 and 2414 are in CCIP.txt)

I too agree with this... With my lack of a real job right now, I may once again be forced to lose online access again in the near future. Until that situation rectifies itself, I cannot possibly consider being in charge of anything online. Plus, when you look over the posts in this forum, clanjay and nomonhan are two of the most vocal and reasoning. Anyhow, let's hope mib will either get in involved or approve us moving forward with the new version.

Not that it can be simulated, but a Chinese victory over Japan would mean that China would have ridiculous numbers of Japanese POWs. That's a bargaining chip. Remember how long the Korean War dragged on because of the POW question.

Actually, we do not have to wait till mib gets back to get started on the groundwork for a new version. As for what I expect to see, I have already stated it. I suggest using CDCP as the base for adding CCIP material to. This ensures we integrate the many fixes needed in the vanilla game into CCIP so that it plays properly and as intended. As it is now, to get these two mods to work together, you must install CDCP, install CCIP, and then mod the files CCIP copied over that CDCP had fixed so that some aspects of gameplay still work correctly.

This means we have a little work to do in combining these mod efforts, as well as giving credit where it is due but, in the end it leads to better gameplay results.

To get the ball rolling without stepping on anyone's toes, we need to get our to-do list started. Please note the following list of changes is purely fantasy and given only as examples...
A to-do list like this would be in order:

A) Database/Event changes

1) change MTN org to 50% base
2) give China to Taiwan after Japan surrender

Once we have our initial list made, we then need to review and reclassify them once more. As part of this process, we would discard some changes as they are not needed or not in the scope of the mod.

B) Required fixes (these would be actual flaws like the mission efficiency bug)

1) change MTN org to 50% base

C) Desired changes (this pretty self-explanatory)

1) give China to Taiwan after Japan surrender


It is certainly possible to reclassify them under more than just these two categories but in my opinion, this more or less covers the bases- Desired vs. Required.








As our list forms, hopefully mib will come back to view the list and either help us move it along, pass on the reins, or give us a flat no for our development. Even in the worst case, he will likely consider our change list so you see, our efforts would not be for naught.

So with all of this said, I personally consider using CDCP as a basis is pretty much required because of the numerous flaws inherit in some of the vanilla files that CCIP uses... Thoughts?

Hmm...I don't think incorporating it into CCIP would be difficult. And it's just too bad that there's no other way to contact mib other than sitting here and wait.

Is there a way to win as CHC via historical events in your mod? I find it rather dificult in Armageddon alone.

What do you suggest me to do when I start? Should I research land doctrines, or something else? Should I build an army or a factory?

As stated some posts ago, you should exploit the CHI ai and take warlords out one by one but try not to confront CHI even though you have 36' infantry(what the heck?). Synchronization is important and you want your troops to arrive at victory points almost simultaneously. I would say you focus on the army and build as many as possible so Japan doesn't roll over you.

Can't think of anything else...In fact I've never played with CHC before...:wacko:

I would love to see CCIP and CDCP merged, since it seems to be a necessary "patch" to download (must admit I haven't used it yet, been away from Hoi2 for a while). And it does seem logical to get a working merged version together before anything else is done. Probably figuring out which CDCP files need to be altered for CCIP to work with it would be a good start.

Well, it looks like the merger process will not be necessary, since the peoples at Paradox just released the 1.3 beta patch. Conclusion, a simple update to work with the patch is in order. I haven't a clue if that will be easier or harder to accomplish.

In what seems to be an absence of any remaining official team members for this mod, I have decided to update CCIP to the latest beta myself, in a sort of unofficial, bootleg capacity, so as to prevent the tragic demise of a beloved mod. The goals being to update the revolt, ai, and event files to function properly with the new patch, as well as incorporate any fixes lounging around in this topic. No graphical additions are planned. Hopefully mib or any of the team members will return, we shall see. Of course, if any original members of this project want me to stop I will.

I recommend getting clanjay's cooperation, but clearly someone has to do what you are doing. I believe the work was mib's but he has not surfaced after being given a fair chance. Just give him credits for the base work and do what you have to do.

I have received and read your message, and surely I will do my best to work on the mod. Unfortunately school already started for me so I might not be able to work all the time. This just reminded me something important: how about the idea of recruiting people who are interested in the mod? So the fact that someone isn't available wouldn't delay the update of the entire mod?

Excellent! I wouldn't expect anyone to work on this all the time (not even me ;) ) As long as there enough people around so consistent progress can be made when somebody has time to spare is fine with me. For anyone interested in joining up, just sign in here. Aside from the ai files, most updating has been on expiration dates, i.e. setting the death dates of appropriate events and nation liberating back to the end of 1963.
