Any suggestions for that "different view"? I don't see many options besides U.S. et al vs. Soviets et al.

1945 before German surrender.

1945 between German and Japanese surrender.

1945 with no hot war.

I like the middle option...

To be honest again I could care less for a 1945 doomsday style scenario also. It just did not float my boat. The only 1945 scenario I would like to see is one where the Axis is still kicking, so perhaps January or February as a start date. At least we could play the bloody battles of that year...the end of the Battle of the Bulge, Iwo Jima, Berlin, Okinawa. Also later the correctly simulated Chinese civil war would be awesome. (I don't know how it would work to have defecting units though)

Do something interesting with it. I remember one of the scenarios in my old Axis and Allies game(computer, not board) being 1945, with Germany and Japan tiny, but involved in the main Cold War conflict. If the Cold War had heated up before the main war was over, then the possibility of, say, Japan joining up with the USSR in a last-ditch effort to survive would actually be almost reasonable. Germany is a bit harder, since both Allied sides hated them, but if you handwave in a democratic coup or something so they join the US/UK you could do some pretty interesting things happen. Have the shattered German army try to hold off the Soviets for as long as possible while the western allies rush to catch up to the new front lines. Also, if the political simulation works well, the democracies facing huge difficulties from Nazi partisans could also be an interesting feature. The Japanese navy was a little bit too shattered by this point to make the Pacific war truly interesting, though emergency supplies of oil could stretch it out a little bit better than historical.

It'd be fundamentally the same scenario, but that one would at least be a bit more interesting in terms of starting conditions and how it played out.

Chinese Civil War will be an interesting scenario but I think Paradox should focus on finishing the game earlier and moddable. Mods should add such things.
I also would like to see a Chinese Civil War scenario.
