Yes I know that Kiva probably did edit the json files.
The question that bothers me is extrapolating all of the cut and delayed features. I know we can get the wonderful modders of this community to fix alot of this and probably make the game way better.
BUT !!!!!!
If you want to play pvp, guess what you have to have? The answer is: the exact same copy of the game installed on your computer and your opponents. At least that is what we have heard. So how is pvp gonna happen unless you continually edit and then reinstall mods so you can play with others. Making sure you either have no mods are the exact same mods. If you edited some of your npc mech warriors. Would the other player have to have exact copies of the same people you have? Or do you then have delete them and reinstall. So if I wanted to play pvp, I would have to make either a complete copy of the game as a vanilla launch or have backup folders full of all the mods I use. Either way a terrible state the game would be in, leaving people like me out of the loop and unable to play even the lesser version of pvp that is going to be shipped.
So while this cut can be fixed using the Json files by modders. Does that then mean my game is now unable to play pvp? What kind of disturbing posts are we going to get post launch if people cannot even play pvp because they have to mod files just to make the game work for them? It is a slippery slope. But like I said, I do not know exactly how this works. Why I am asking questions.
I have asked in all hopefullness that one of the modders will figure out how to make a really good mod launcher for this game so we could possibly edit mods, disable them etc at launch of the game so playing pvp would not then be hard or impossible if you have modded your game. I know there are many battle settings I will be modding once someone posts how to. Including visibility range, water heat sinking, npc pilot names (because I have to) otherwise I just will not care if they die.
With HBS cutting and delaying features, modders will of course want to do their best. But because of the anti cheat setting on the game it could make it much more difficult for people like me that do not mod, do not code or program to play pvp if we wanted to. Note I am not normally a pvp player. I bring this up because I have friends who are.
