The explanation for no Finland was that a Finland rework will require more mechanics and need more development when they were already tapped out on that stuff for this DLC basically.
Super disappointing
There's no reason for no a basic but reduced Finland focus tree at least for historic Finland

Great news, guess they read my Suggestions thread :p . If they're doing the Baltics instead of Finland, though, that's a really unexpected move. Guess they decided it would be easier to do all the Scandi countries together as one pack.

The further good news is that if they continue to release country packs and DLCs one after another, the Scandi country pack will probably arrive before the next DLC, so four+ nations will get focus trees before the Italians. We will make them green with envy :D .

A BS explanation. What mechanisms does Finland need that are common with the 30s - 40s Scandi countries?

Winter combat? Defensive combat? Airforce mechanics? Guerilla & LRRP strikes? All common features with the f.r.i.g.g.i.n.g. USSR, rather than Sweden, Norway, or Denmark.

The HoI4 team should be replaced by people who actually have a passion for the period, and not on how to make the most outrageous "world conquest by a country of one million" type memes...

Pathetic...

Which is kinda true, I'm not an expert of the game and when I asked around how to farm general/army exp I thought (and still do) "wtf why does it work that way and why is this the best strat"
Could you give an example? In my opinion all the existing ways of gaining XP outside of combat make much less sense (theorist, attaché, lend-lease, exercise).

What did they do for more than a year ? Supply rework, Poland rework, Baltic states and an unfinished Soviet union ? That's really dissapointing!
Major overhauls to combat, supply, research, the battle planner, and more things on top of that, by the look of it. Which takes time. They've said for a long time that the Soviet DLC would be a big one, which is one reason it's been pushed back for so long.

Feels more like two years for me because the last DLC was pretty bad and a distracting experience.

I appreciated the effort from the developers but spies didn’t work for me and I felt it was a bad decision that one. We could have had Italy last year...

PDX: So when we make Finland and the Nordics, we're not only going to add more trees, we also want to have some all-new mechanics in place to really do that part of the war justice :) !
Forumers: pdx should be replaced by people who actually have a passion for their preojct!!!

Most strats revolve around attacking with lots of weak units, so that you get a green bubble (and lots of exp) but without pushing , or alternatively stopping the attack from finishing and winning the combat. This basically means that you don't want to push towards victory, but just stay in place without advancing the war. For example with germany in the SCW your objective is not to help Franco win, it's to get all units in one tile spamming a single combat to get a fuckton of exp and desired general traits. Does this make sense to you?

Now, this might be considered cheese -and it is, clearly- but when everyone on the forum is apparently doing and recommending it as part of their normal strategy, something must be changed.

Well it is for you to decide what your objective in the SCW war is. Even historically, German leaders were divided to what extent and to which end they should participate in the war. It was not simply Franco victory = good. If you favor experience this much, then yes you'll want to stretch out the war and it makes sense. Or maybe you want a less bled-out Spanish ally and earlier. It really depends on which goals you set yourself (and in MP what is allowed).

The actual amount of experience does not make sense to me because the game is too generous with how many volunteers Germany can send. Historically it was about one division plus air volunteers.

The forum is not representative of what is normal but of what needs discussing the most. For example when looking at reddit one could get the idea that the game should be called "Encirclement Simulator" yet encirclements are rarely a topic here because it is rather straightforward.

As in news about the D-day patch, the new DLC, etc. Because what we got was very little.
There will be info about the anniversary stuff and patch closer to its release, like previous years :)

About Finland - the eastern front and the USSR won't be complete without the continuation war being represented properly - it will be disappointing if we don't get at least an event dedicated to it.
USSR rework - hopefully only different shades of communism is available, otherwise it would break too many focus trees that rely on the USSR being communist. Also, what is with putting the left opposition to the right of the center. I swear, they do this on purpose to screw with us.

Interested to see how the changes to doctrines will play. If it is easier for casuals like me then I am happy but generally when things are made more accessible for average players the people who actually understand and love the old mechanic get upset. I usually play as minors and find my entire time with research getting my infantry weapons, artillery, support, industry and electronics up-to-date with some small emphasis on fighters and CAS. I know doctrines are an important part of the game but hardly ever get very far with the branches and even then only with the land doctrine.

Edit: I am also disappointed no Finland but decided to focus on the positives than things out of my control.
