So going over the latest game play (World War Wednesdays) I haven't seen fighter aces or Johan mentioning it. Every time they brought up air screens I didn't see aces. Are there still going to be fighter/bomber aces? I HOPE SO! I was looking forward to using Gunther Rall!

I'm not sure if there was enough air to air combat for it, or if there were any aces that they just weren't playing too fast to even take a look. I sure hope that there are at least aces in the game.

There were screen shots of Aces, so I would think its in the game. I really hope they don't abandon the idea, it really brings depth to the Air aspect of the game

There had to be enough air combat. I mean there were 1200 fighters vs 1000 fighters in Western Germany alone during latest World War Wednesday. That a huge significant amount to 1940 standards. And that's not counting all of Johans bombers, or like he says "bummbers" :p

The problem is the number crunching. The feature itself was asked since older games, but imagine the war circa 1943. It´s some 50000 pilot entities that need to be tracked (or more) individually. Per hour and with a place on the map. Entities would be lost, and also replaced.

I mean, I really would love to see the feature, but can understand if it was too much trouble to be implemented, at least for release.

Yeah, I know about the aircraft numbers, but I am basing it on the fact that Jacob only had 140 Air experience pts. They never really delved into the air to air losses of both sides throughout the last WWW.

IMO, it would be better, if planes used same XP system as ground units.

Micromanaging "aces" seems like another clickfest + it poorly represent experience/training of large number of pilots.

Not too significantly high, at the start of May 1940, the Luftwaffe had some 5500 Aircraft of all types (trainers, reconnaissance, search and rescue, bombers, fighters etc) of which about 1000+ were Bf109s and the Allies had something like 3000 Aircraft on the front lines. However, Fighter Command of Britain had some 1000+ Fighters and 600+ Bombers in Reserve in various air bases spread across southern England which were not committed in the war and used for the BoB. If you add these 1600+, also add some 300-400 planes sent by USA to France and add the French Reserve of approx. 500+ planes then you get some 10000+ planes which could theoretically be in the air in mid 1940, so seeing 2200+ planes in the air in mid 1940 sounds realistic.

I hope they'll release an update or DLC that gives the air units some love - experience and training were just as important in the air than on the ground.
