Yeah except they don't beat on other pirates in the employ of a noble house. Plus the whole +15 more rep for Steiner and Kurita versus a new campaign start when I can't recall ever doing missions for them. I would have taken any Steiner contracts I found but not Kurita given I favor Davion, and the only reason I have Liao rep was because I was actively at war with the Taurians and took a few missions with them to punish the Taurians for their war crimes.

I mean logically I can see an in game reason for a boost in rep after you finish the campaign since you did basically restore a noble house against an unlawful and somewhat barbaric usurper, but the rep in that campaign save certainly doesn't reflect the actions I took during the whole campaign without some sort of a rep reward with everyone after you restore Arano.
That rep level isn't too hard to get in the new game.
Maybe you might have been at zero and taken some pirate missions without realizing it?

More pirate missions overall, flashpoints included. One thing I realized is that you cannot play a pure pirate company unless you get really lucky with the mission generator. And RNG just hates my guts, first two attempts at a pirate company play-through went bankrupt for lack of pirate missions in the 1.5 to 2 skull range, third career start I decided to try a normal merc company and now I have TONS of pirate missions appearing of all difficulties. You'd think you'd get more missions as they start to like you rather than dislike you.
Yeah I think it's just rng .I've noticed several, but then I'm not trying to survive on them either I guess that certainly makes it hard.
Perhaps some pirate mission heavy worlds would help

Anyone buy admittance to the Black Markets yet?

Is it worth it to pay 2.5m Cbills for access to the Black Markets?

Just curious. Apparently I am “loathed” by Pirates everywhere in my Career Mode Attempt. : )
I've been continuing on a story campaign from pre-1.3 and bought admittance at 250k. At that price (and with a large nest egg), it is clearly worth it as you get extra rolls for good things in shops (weighted towards good things and including things like SLDF mechs and other lostech on rare occasions).

I'd be harder pressed to pay 2.5 mil unless I was rolling in C-Bills. The counter argument is that the opportunity may not come again for a long time and that long term you want the extra rolls to get good stuff.

No, because I RP'd that character to be totally anti-pirate. I could see other saves being like that but I specifically wouldn't take pirate offered contracts on that one. That's what has me scratching my head.

Yeah I think it's just rng .I've noticed several, but then I'm not trying to survive on them either I guess that certainly makes it hard.

Oh it's clearly RNG when all three are new career saves started since 1.3, and I even picked the same background options in 2 of those saves to see if that had any effect. I didn't expect it to and it doesn't appear to. Perhaps picking Frontier Pirate as a background choice should increase the chance of generating more pirate missions rather being a specific planet, and maybe making the background choices there have a little more impact in what type of missions and from whom that you get starting out, at least for careers where we aren't really given a storyline and are suppose to create our own.

Prior to the reputation changes, +5 was the starting amount of reputation you got with all factions.

So that's where the +15 you're seeing came from... simply a different baseline between versions.

As far as the pirates... well, it just wasn't tracked until now, so since the save has no available information it started you off at the (old) default.

Its unlikely to happen. But i do think HBS should make alliance FPs for TC, MC and pirates too.

They could even activate that Arano faction store, let us ally with the Aurigan Coalition and have an alliance FP over the post war reconstruction.

Maybe in 1.3.X or 1.4, right? We can always dream :)
