For me space monsters feel more like fantasy than sci-fi. It's always giant worms, giant lobsters, etc which feels silly.

Same here. Any space lobsters and worms please have a "None" setting.

Now a Tyranid plague would be cool

Imagine the horror of declaring war on an enemy empire; taking their outer systems with total ease... feeling really good about yourself... and then getting to their capital system and many tentacles start seizing control of your troops

i would like monster tier organisms as an very rare event/anomaly where they pose a peotential gargantuan risk(don't wanna wake up that living planet you alreayd build a colony on), but with a decent payout later(investign mroe in that colony and risking it later getting swallowed by the planet anyways is not good, get tons of science form studying it).

they certainly shoudlnt be common(think demon child event tier uncommon), but i wouldnt rule out them entirely unable to exist in its entirely. maybe theres a spaceborn alien in *random gigantic cloud of usefull stuff fed by geysers on a moon* that is the cause of disapearing spaceships. besides, as far as we know, FTL is also impossible - yet the game has it anyways.
