Are there ever going to be mechanics for judaism, zoroastrianism and animism?

I could see animism getting something, Zoroastrianism does have a decision called rekindle the fires which gives you +.5 yearly prestige and legitmacy, if you control all of their holy sites in Persia. There is even an achievement to start the game as a custom Zoroastrian nation.

I think these religions - particularly Judaism and Zoroastrianism - are unlikely to get work done on them.
I'd like to be wrong, but because they are really peripheral in EU4's timeframe they're not likely to get much love.

Going on a Judaism run would be much more interesting if it had idiosyncratic mechanics.
But I'm not holding my breath.

Look i would lie to you if i said that i wouldn't like to se Judaism or Zoroastrianism get unique flavor. Simple fact is that those are minor religions. They usually are either converted early on or remain small. If you ask me i would rather like to see Totemist religion rework.

Does any province start with Judaism? Which ones? I think the main problem is that no country in 1444 starts with it as state religion.... I think that for zoroastrism the same issue. Both religions are a better fit for the time frame of Crusader Kings.

Judaism and Zoros are expected to die in the first few years of the game, and not really meant to be played, so they won't be getting anything.
Animism is a placeholder religion as PDS gradually replaces it with actual religions. No point in giving anything to a placeholder.
Totemism is IMO the one which needs special mechanics, as it's large and people will play it. As is, if I played with Northern American natives, I'd just convert to some Christian religion (which isn't bad, you should be tempted to convert, but the traditionalist alternative should be made fun).

Take a close look at Ethiopia ;) they start with two provinces with Jewish faith and Semien Jewish rebels, also Semien can be released as a tag (Semien if I recall correctly was "Beta Israel"), but as far as I know there's no Zoroastrian province in the 1444 start.

Norse is not present anywhere and yet it got the patron deities mechanic (admittedly based on Hindu one, but still with a bunch of unique graphic, descriptions and modifiers).

Yeah there is one in Iran in Yazd

Semien and Dembiya in Ethiopia start off as Jewish, while Yazd in the Persia starts off as Zoroastrian.

Semien(Beta Israel) is the only Jewish tag in-game, while Yazd (the tag), is the only Zoroastrian one.

(A rare AI Yazd in action. Didn't get to see them flourish because my game ended when the Ottomans attacked and the Mamluks ditched me due to being 12000 ducats in debt)

Beta Israeli seperatists have already risen up upon game start, sometimes AI Ethiopia will fail to defeat them because AI magic, and you can occasionally see a free Semien, although they're usually gone pretty early due to being religiously isolated.

There's also an event for the Ottomans that changes the religion in Macedonia/Selanik from Orthodox to Jewish.
20200815123555_1.jpg

(Jewish Macedonia. I've had the Ottomans actually flip to Jewish Revolutionary Turkey after they took a good thrashing from both the Mamluks and Austria. Fun stuff)

It's a shame though you can't form Persia while being Zoroastrian. Only muslim nations can, which is a bummer. Dropped my Zoroastrian Timurids run because of that :(
There is no religion restriction to forming Persia. There is however a restriction where you cannot be Timurids, which was your issue.

Even if there was a restriction, you could just convert after forming Persia instead of before.

Zoroastrianism has some unique decisions I don't think they need more. Maybe patron mechanic

Judaism is a much stronger religion (not saying much) and could use a restore israel decision, Mechanically I could see an adaptation of the coptic mechanics

Just to add my two cents in, I would love additional mechanics for them. But would hate it if they where just "choose a bonus from a list", like most religions. And no -100 + 100 bars where its a no brainer/impossible to do anything but to stay on 1 extreme.
