Are the Catholics supposed to start as heretics?

I have had LoR since it came out but im starting to notice when I start a new games the catholics sometimes start out as heretics or start out as thier own religion. Are they suppose to start out as heretics or are the catholics suppose to start with a separate religious branch?

Some other guy saw kingdoms which drifted in his old game also moved to different empires (or out of) in a fresh start. This shouldn't be happening. Reinstall the game?

Did you mend the schism in a previous game by any chance?

Try deleting or temporarily removing your old saves before you start the game.

It's a pretty common bug that happens if you mend the schism in a game. Restarting the game works according to those who have experienced it.

Catholics are heretics irl from 1054. Not a bug.
