I've seen this gameplay
and I think the speed of construction of buildings is too fast.
I prefer a slower construction, as in Tropico saga or in the last SimCity (with the cement mixer lorry arriving and the construction process too slow)

What do you think?

Thats a nice feature! I think they should have done that.

I agree with the glass, its something that you'll see everytime you zoom in to take a pic. But the construction team is just useless. And well this wasnt the only idea on the forum, most of them i gave my support but this is just (REALLY) useless.

Again like i said why add a feature that you would only see for sometime? Unless you have a fetish on construction workers you would forget about that in a blink of an eye.

you have a fetish for shiny glass and i really wouldn't care. Id rather they develop this over that.
honestly I'm really not worried about what ideas you personally endorse.
and like i say why worry about any Useless graphical effect that you will only 'see for sometimes', like zooming up to take pics of glass for some reason?

and construction workers serve more of a purpose to realistically increase build times which is what this threads about. ok so we have 1 vote for no construction workers, adding more details is now a bad thing.

I dont mind if we get a not so good glass like the pics on another topic, im here for the gameplay anyway. Sorry if i got you mad because i said constructions workers are useless, i'll change that:

We need constructions workers to make this game awesome!

How would that add a gameplay challenge? The roads being built in SC4 were purely cosmetic.
I'd actually rather have them built like in tropico1 where you have to wait for construction crews to build them.
But whatever insta roads are great

having to wait for roads to be built would add to the challenge. Something Planners have to worry about in real life
and therefor i think would add to the gameplay, as opposed to everything getting instantly built. which seems a bit simple.

Probably in the fact that it wouldn't be instant, so if you need to build a road right away because of some issue (traffic jam, blockage, inefficient network, etc). The fix wouldn't be instantaneous but would take a short period (not long but enough to not to be instant). So you'd have to plan ahead or be more careful about your changes because they'll take a little while to be in effect. Similar to how the water took a while to settle when the Dam was built (in the video).

That was a nice feature in SC2013, hundreds of people to make a house being build. I think you guys dont get that this was a 12 people team and they had features that were more important than a woman selling a house with cookies in her hand.

Becuase like i said i bet you guys would only watch houses being build in the first 5~10 min of gameplay then you wouldnt even care about that. Or you watch every house being build everytime in SC2013? So why waste processing time to something so useless like that? lol

Its like wanting to see the grass growing in the map and deers making babies, its cool but after sometime you wouldnt give a damn about that.

I don't watch every house individually, but the area I have just zoned will often remain on screen while it's being built - depending on zoom level and what else I may be doing. It's not a deal breaker, but I prefer Sim City's build animations because it gives a better impression of buildings being constructed and makes the city feel more alive. Even when viewed from a distance while doing something else. Anything that adds to the immersion is far from useless.

As for deers and babies... um... I would imagine that's not something most urban planners spend a great deal of time on! Construction on the other hand is a little more relevant!

I personally care. It's the small details that really bring the game alive after you've figured out the basics. Why skimp on something that adds plausibility to the world? A lot of people have this "who cares" view but then you can say that about everything visually going on. It's not just a spreadsheet simulator but a visual representation of city building and that involves all the little things going on too.
