Are Paradox accounts and forum accounts linked?

Are Paradox accounts and forum accounts linked? I'd like to know as I'm making a purchase from the Paradox Store soon, and you need one to buy. I also have this forum account, and I'm curious to know if I can link my forum account and soon-to-be Paradox account.

The current answer is Yes and No.

If you have a Paradox account you can merge your forum account to it.
You are not currently required to do so.
You cannot create a new forum account anymore, new ones are made through your Paradox account.

NOTE: When we launch the new forum software (which will be within the next 6 months) you WILL BE REQUIRED to have a Paradox account.
So my strong suggestion is to get one now and merge them, that way if anything goes wrong you are not trying to get help at the same time as everyone else and during the time when people that can help are busy with fine tuning the launch.

Pro tip: Make sure your forum account has the same e-mail address associated with it as you intend to use as your login ID for the Paradox account, this makes the merge much smoother.

Looks pretty rough right now, mostly under the hood stuff being worked on.
Very few people have access right now, most likely will not be a public beta as everything will need to be wiped in order to migrate this database of posts over to the new system.

Would be nice to get it sooner than 6 months from now - current forum software is pretty annoying.

The idea with post counts is to show how much you participate in the games forums, not how much you spam OT.
It does not indicate how reliable your information is, but is just one factor people can use to make their own decisions.

Keep In mind some of us are very heavy users of the forums as well and know where most hotspots are.

Also I want to minimize buyers remorse some what and put a reality check on expectations.
The launch build will only be a foundation, what we are trying to get right is a solid foundation on which we can build and improve over time.
There are many many many ... feature on the wish list already that will not be there at launch, so don't get pissed off and rage quite if it is not immediately obvious that it is better.
In minor ways it may even be a small step backward for some functions, but these will be smoothed out.
Key areas you will see improvement on at launch are mobile use, and search.

We will start a thread on wishlists and feedback once you have had a chance to experience it for your self.
We will be interested and avid readers of that thread.

It will not be possible to maintain 2 forums live simultaneously. The posts need to be migrated to the new database.
What will probably happen is a notice will go up at the point we do an initial transfer of data, and during the time it takes to get that data up and running, any change to posts from before that time will not be included once the final migration is done. Then just the additional posts during arbitrarily say that week, will need to be moved over and added to the database of the new forum. We will probably have to shutdown during that transfer so we will be sure to give notice.

Nah, I don't use a phone to surf the forums, closest I get is a Surface pro 3, if I am on the move.

Besides I heard today that the new trend is to go back to a nice old style flip phone, all the celebs are doing it because they are way harder to hack and cannot be GPS tracked. Who knew I was a trend setter. Of course now that it is a trend I may have to go get a smart phone I don't want to be yesterday.
