I'm confused by the resource readout on the building status pane.

I put two metal extractors on a single deposit. Both of them say they produce 5 units of metal, but on the right they have a different "#/d" readout; one says 8/d and the other says 5/d.

If they both produce 5 units of metal, why do they produce at different rates? Is it because neither one is completely covering the deposit? Would a single metal extractor centered perfectly on the deposit produce the fastest?

I think the rate per day (#/d) is dependent on the colonist's traits. Some trait(s) give 15% boosts.
And unlike other production buildings, the extractors seem to have "day-shifts" only

*goes looking if someone has documented traits in the wiki and their impact on productivity

One test I did do was to put a warehouse right next to an extractor, the worker itself not a carrier takes the stuff and dumps it to the warehouse. This 'seems' to mean that putting warehouses next to resources might increase efficiency as workers arent wasting time 'moving' the product.
