Are east asian nations not able to form PUs?

I never really play as non-western countries. Decided to try out Malacca... anyways, I warred Aceh to form a PU, and right after they signed the treaty, my monarch died.

I assumed this was just the usual EU3 trolling me. I immediately warred them again and took the 5 stab hit and made them reform the union. Boom--my monarch dies again.

I'm assuming that this is an issue with east asian countries?

No, you've just had terrible luck.

East Asian countries can get into PUs. I've had PUs with Japan and Ming personally in DW.

I accidentally got under a PU with Lan Xang as Wu (Don't ask. :blush, so i'd say it's possible.

Wow, the gods of paradox must hate me. TWO dead monarchs, the day I form a PU. :'(

The restoration of the union cb lasts 10 years so you don't have to break the truce.
