maybe one solution would be to allow destroyers to have hangers or a total of 3 missles. I imagine the sheer volume of missles from 3xdestroyers worth of missles would pose a problem to bb, even if they are using a screen of pd corvettes.
Some more effective loadout options Destroyers could do the trick but I agree with @SeekingEternity - giving Hangars to Destroyers is pointless unless Strikecract actually become a viable option.

That would make sense, except that according to the devs, destroyers are supposed to be the counter to corvettes, rather than the counter to battleships. For example, corvettes have the most efficient missile mounts/ship size points ratio in the game; destroyers have the most efficient PD/size in the game (and even after the nerf to PD vs. armor, they still rip through shields and hull quite efficiently once you get into range, assuming there's no missiles or strike craft to distract them). The problem is, if DDs are going to counter corvettes, they need to be better than less-than-two corvettes worth of small slots glued together with less-than-two corvettes worth of HP (especially because they always lose to corvettes on evasion and speed).

Giving DDs the option to mount a hanger slot would also make sense, if strike craft were actually effective at anything right now; strike craft are (in theory) good against both small ships (high speed and tracking, skips shields) and large ships (high evasion and needs PD to kill them, skips shields), but right now the only thing they are effective against is red-colored piracy icons.
Thine thing is that Torpedoes are one of the effective ways to kill Battleships and so any ship that has missile slot can be counter Battleships. In case of Corvettes it means using larger number of ships but it is still possible (yeah, I know....war exhaustion etc. but they are still cheap, fast to build and effective) because of that I think that Destroyers should have rocket slots and Corvettes shouldn't. Corvettes can either work as PD screen or (if equipped with the "gattling" guns) as shield wreckers but if you let them keep the missile slot, they will always in the late game equip torpedoes and become effective against bigger ships.
So yeah, no missiles for Corvettes - or if it were possible to do, missile slots on corvettes couldn't fit Torpedoes. In my post I showed Destroyers with rockets, I took the 1M+2S (front) and 1M (rear) sections and replaced the Medium slots with Missiles. Perhaps the Destroyers could get the missiles instead of the Small slots but that would mean possibility for 4xmissile slots and that would kick some serious butt. So I think the maximum of 2x missiles in combination with small guns makes a good counter to corvettes because the rockets have good tracking and the small slot guns usually have good tracking too. Perhaps the alloy cost per section could be a bit lower for Destroyers to lower the overall price of them and/or the tech that adds HP to Destroyers could add more HP to make the Destroyers easier to survive vs Corvettes.
