This is true, however you can avoid this if you have a particularly talented cousin you want (or really any talented distant member of your dynasty): just give them a title that would make them an elector. Electors are automatically eligible.I've noticed Elective Monarchy doesn't allow skipping generations. You can't nominate a grandchild if their parent is still alive and by the same token it would be impossible to nominate cousins as long as the relevant aunt/uncle is still alive.
