I haven't played the game since it was released. I stopped because I didn't like how you could not peace with individual members of a coalition that you were at war against. For example, I was Germany, every single nation around me was in a coalition against me (understandable since I was very warmongering). But then everytime I went to war, it would take several years to peace and I could only receive a couple of territories because I could only peace with the leader of the coalition. Having wars with over 10 nations and then only being able to take 2 to 4 provinces is very frustrating and not fun. Has that been fixed?

It was broken. Read again what I posted. No game should be like that. If a country conquers another, it is irrelevant whether they were part of a coalition or not. They should be able to lose provinces.

In my opinion, peacing with coalitions should be similar to peacing against alliances. The leader that is fighting against the alliance should be able to peace against all of the nations in the alliance except for vassals.

You can try to mod out coalitions by making coalition=no in all ai altitudes, or you can give yourself a "I should just be able to take whatever I want" CB that gives 0 AE and 10% warscore requirement to take stuff. Maybe add 1000% prestige for that CB too.

Peacing out with Coalition members is logical and did happen. Coalitions members peaced out separately with France during the wars that occurred over the French revolution. Venice handled Coalitions appeasing members to make them leave.

Coalitions should be akin to weak alliances geared towards either one country or an alliance of countries.

Its not about painting the map red, so to speak, but making the game more enjoyable. If you are in a situation to fight an beat a coalition of all of Europe, you should be able to (at the very least), dismantle multiple countries and not just the leader.

That would make coalitions pointless, and easy to abuse (being able to peace out with everyone) so even if I like the idea, I doubt it would work well in the game.

This is WAD, coalitions are supposed to be a speedbump against aggressive expansion. Tend to your AE and relations and the coalitions won't be so large and tedious to defeat.

It is not like you can annex 50 provinces and take 20 vassals all at once even if you can make separate peace with coalition members. Over-extension and diplomatic relations limit are already doing their job well enough; there is no need to add an artificial limit that only serves to frustrate players.

WAD you say? So, coalitions should remain the one diplomatic action that doesn't have a cost of some sort, thus AI has 0 reason to calculate whether to join or not? And far flung tribal and oriental nations that you may not have been even discovered, should always join the coalition against some European power for expanding against other Europeans? And I've never seen the AI form a coalition and start a world war over the AI taking provinces in Morroco, but boy oh boy, if you don't follow the "grand strategies" of vassal feeding, or 1 province wars, you'll be dealing with world war 12 by the time the game is over.

My point exactly. If there is an aspect of the game that causes this many people to be unhappy, it should be changed. Even if a few players don't mind it, too many dislike it.

I'm all for changing it to be more historical. But only if it remains a huge hurdle for people that are overly aggresive. It's purpose is a good one and should remain like that.

If the end of the game feels like watching paint dry you haven't planned well for the long term.

Yes, it's still unbalanced. No, there's nothing you can do. If you disable them then expanding becomes trivial, and if you don't it becomes a chore.
