Nice work warspite, keep it coming. Here's an idea for you, maybe sometime in the future the one who is keeping the diary is a woman and she would be telling things thru the letters she recieves from his boyfriend or husband, that will be a radical twist.
choice idea, i planned on telling diary through woman part of family somewhere down the line, im sure the male side will die out sometime.

CHRISTMAS AT HOME 1507
Christmas of 1507 was a time of great cheer for the Sutton family. I was able to spend it with my family and friends in Kalmar. The war was over now thank god. Earlier in the year while i was in the navy, our fleet chased the danes in and out of port. They were in deep trouble and we loved it. In six months we sank no less than 19 danish ships and completely took over the seas. Our armies had gotten success as well when they took control of Ostlandet from denmark which promted denmark to give up the fight because Pskov gave up also. Haha, sweden rules, we beat the liven daylights out of them and gained Jamtland for peace. I bet King Svante is dancing with joy this christmas also.
The King apparently wanted to settle people in the colonies of Far Karelia and Kola that we got from Russia. I was offered a free pass to settle there but said no after having marched by there while in the army, what a desolate place.
Well i spent the rest of the year at home getting my house patched up and starting work with the merchant company in Kalmar again. Romela was doing well and was very happy to have me home, Johan is getting to be a big boy, five years old now and already knows how to throw a good punch, thats my boy. Ingrid is three now and she sure cries alot but is a bundle of joy at times.

The fruits of our war success are beginning to sour some because i heard there is a revolt in Jamtland. Heck i was one of the guys who helped to take that castle, now danish loyalists are back trying to take it. But the main man, general Gadh took a 14000 man army with the cannons and apparently slaughtered the rebels easily.
Our country is in great health, after the war everyone is happy and revived spirit to serve the king and get sweden a power in the region. After beating Russia and Denmark i say we are a great power.
Mom got real sick, Romela is taking care of her at the house. My sister Saundra lost her husband in a work accident. I offered her my house to stay here with her three sons. Work is good enough that i can make an addition to the house and support everybody for now.

Well more reports of revolts in Jamtland but thats nothing. Rumors from the merchants is the muslims of turkey are sweeping over the hungarian christians. What a disgrace, i hope our king will one day help the fight against those workers of evil.
Sweden went to war again, this time supporting france, savoy, cologne, navarra and brittany against Austria and her allies bohemia, hungary, bavaria and hannover. The good news is that these countries can barely touch us as they are all inland.
Far Karelia became a city
The king has sent General Gadh with our cannons and army of 16000 to fight hannover. Please please be a quick war, i am getting used to home and dont want to leave again. That and im too old now , heck i cant even play hockey that good anymore

Another revolt in jamtland is ignored because its more of a distraction for our army and is little threat to the territory.
Austria beat up Cologne so bad they annexed it. However word comes that Gadh is whooping up the hannover army with french help and is sieging the capital. Late in the year the hannoverians surrendered after Gadh stormed the castle and threw their prince accross his knee. Sweden rules, we are unstoppable i think. Now our treasury is filled with enemy gold and our King begins to build up the Army and Navy. My sisters son Stanley is one of those that goes to the army. He is 18.
Mom is doing ok but she is a handful for Romela, So is little ingrid who is becoming a little witch at 6 years old. Johan is 8 now and is really growing to be a good ladd. Romela is pregnant with another, i think i like having kids again

Well the king got his wish, Kola was settled into a fine city and they walled her all up to keep it safe. The old russian land is pure swedish now. Our navy visited Kalmar by where i work today, boy oh boy are those galleys and warships awesome to see. We have 38 ships now, we have to be the strongest navy in the world no doubt. Our army is up to 42000 strong, we must be the most powerful country in the world too.
The King spent lots of resources because my company hauled tons of supplies around while mayors were placed all over the kingdom. this did improve the economy in our years of peace. Im making enough money now i added more to the house.
Romela gave birth to Jennifer and right away we got busy preparing for a fourth child.
News comes that France defeated Austria and took lots of land from them, this is great, we are strong and have a strong ally. I would like to maybe travel to france one day, hmmmmm.
Poland joins the crusade against the muslim turks with Venice.

Sweden enjoys peace and prosperity and so do i and the company i work for. I have saved enough money that i start my own trade business with a couple of buddies. Should be interesting as the economy thrives (29d/mo up from 25d/mo)
Terrible news comes from Stockholm, King Svante has died and our new King is Stensture Nattock Dag, i just hope he is as wise as Svante.
More tragedy hits home when mom dies, after the funeral i took the family on a vacation to stockholm, one of the few times we could travel far thanks to my success at work. In stockholm we saw great things, the Kings palace and his elite guard. Romela mentioned in her pregnant state that stockholm could use a makeover, it gave me an idea for my business.
In december Romela gave birth to Svante, good to have another son. Times are good.

The winter was very harsh but thankfully i was prepared. If it hadnt been for the good job i have and my growing business i might have suffered like other families in kalmar. We gave shelter to many folks, praise god for the provision. But the church told me not to ever house poor again , hmmm i wonder why they did that? Oh well i wont buck the system or church, so i build my own church to house the poor folks, yeah thats what ill do, i got the money for it.
News came that Venice and Poland beat the muslims, i cant wait until our King helps christianity in the crusade on them evil doers. Infact The king did just that when he issued a Kingdom wide decree of zero tollerance towards muslims. I felt bad when a couple muslim merchants i knew were taken away by guards. Oh well they should have repented, so screw them.
Svante and Jennifer are coming along just fine. Romela is sick of having kids so that put an end to my fun. At least i have Johan to help grow, he is a great boy and smart too. Ingrid though, she is a handful she is headstrong and refuses to obey Romela or Me. At age 41 things are looking good. The trading business is doing well and im almost able to quit the job at the docks.

Well i started the year off the right way by taking Romela on an anniversary trip, we had the money and i had the time so we went but she refused to take the chance of another child, son of a gun that ruined my whole trip so we went back to our home in Kalmar and thats when we heard news of the Reformation that had begun in germany. I didnt know much about it except that some bishop started waves against the catholic church. Hmmm maybe its about time because im pretty ticked off at the catholic church that told me i couldnt help needy people. Those catholics always had to have their hands in things, always wanting power and money. Oh well life goes on.
some other news came during this peaceful year, that Pskov became a vassal of Russia, big deal though.

Bad news comes from the merchants at work, Turkey has annexed the Knights of st John, this is terrible because it means we the christians are losing to this muslim threat. France wrapped up a war with hannover taking some land from them.
The biggest part of the year came when an old war buddy told me about the reformation building in germany, it was spreading to sweden now too and things were getting tense all around. some friends left our catholic church because they wanted to be protestants. I heard the catholics are even burning these protestants in stockholm and the king isnt doing anything about it, hmmmmmm this has me thinking.

The year was highlighted by some news of more revolts in Jamtland, i guess general Gadh, bless him, took 18000 men and just destroyed the rebel army.
Well an old friend Brad came to me again and he was a reformist, the catholic church was conspiring against reformists now but word was the King stopped the catholics from killing reformists. Brad says we can build the church i always wanted, then he sat me down and told me about the bible and how Jesus said we shall be saved if we have faith. But i thought we had to pay money and do good works to be saved. Wow after reading Brads bible i realized Jesus was the savior not the church.

These were two busy busy years. I had to hire some folks to help out my business while me and brad and some of the new reformists in town begand building a new church. We were harrased all the time by the bishop of Kalmar and he even gathered some of his church men to start a fight against us. But Jesus must have been on our side because the bishops men just walked away and would not fight. Oh how im really learning about this Jesus and how different he is and good he is. Our church is going well, it will be a grand ole church the best in town, im putting all i have into it, i do it in faith too, praise our lord.
Thanks to our king i can do all these things in peace as my children grow. Johan is 16 years old now and wants to help in the church, he is such a calm boy but has much spirit. He helped so much but ingrid she is 14 years old and is a nightmare, she runs away from home now and im affraid she will be trouble more than we need.

A new Holy Roman Emperor is elected, its Karl V of Austria. I have heard so much about germany and those lands. How i wish i could travel to see how great those places are. I heard there is a place called Rome too, that it was the center of a great empire long ago and that even more, Spain is finding new lands all over a new world. Sweden is sometimes so cold and boring, i wish i could have a chance to see these other worlds. Oh well.
Our church is built and we put up the cross and it is a blessed church. What was also great is the King proclaimed Sweden to be a protestant country and the catholics went balistic after they lost some money. Oh how times are changing

There is something that has struck me, though.
In modern Sweden, like in most of Western Europe, English names are quite common, but I have serios doubts about people in 15-16th century Sweden being called "Jennifer", "Stanley", etc, not even mentioning the family name "Sutton"
+ we both know that Denmark kicked some serios Swedish ass right up untill the siege of Copenhagen in 1660 (I think)
