[Warspite]

This is another one of my experimental AAR ideas, the italy aar multiplayer experiment has taken off quite nicely. Well this is not a multiplayer aar. Instead this is a writing style experiment that will incorperate basics of swedens history from the eyes of one family. The Sutton family started a diary from 1492 to 1792 and you have the privelage of seeing what they wrote through those incredible years as the diary was passed on from generation to generation.

I love to write, especially about history like this where i can recreate it all. So as my imagination takes me to the limit with three or four AARs going at once, all i ask is that you, ENJOY!

A family (sutton) started writing a diary in 1492 and it was carried on through the years by the generations. The diaries were archived in stockholm and now they are opened once again for your eyes to see.

Jan 1, 1492
What a great day. I just arrived in stockholm were i entered my training onboard the ship Svotland. It was a warship and oh she was a beauty, i always dreamed of being in the navy and now my dream had come true. Now i was a sailer in the kings fleet.

Behind me was the days of my family in Kalmar smaland. I missed home but i had many dreams for my life. It is difficult to write as paper is minimul here. Rumors from my new found friends is that plans might be in the works for sweden to finally break the yoke of denmarks vassalage. Oh that would be great to become free from those scum, i hate the danes and thier armies always going through our towns. I cant wait for war if it comes. Also much talk of how there are russians growing anxious to our east. Hmmm i cant wait to learn more of this country.

Aug 26th 1492
My hopes have come to pass, Sweden and her great king Sten Sture Sjoblad has renounced the vassalage of denmark and we are now at war against them. Thank god, now i can see battle and get out to sea and fight these scum.

Mar 14th 1493
Yesterday we engaged the enemy fleet off the coast of gotland. we had our entire fleet of 15 warships and 5 supporting vessels. They had 14 warships and 26 other vessels. Oh how never imagined battle to be so bloody and fierce. So many of my friends died or were injured, i escaped injury and i must have helped win this battle as my sword was covered with much danish blood. I did my best but i must admit i dont think this war is fun anymore. We burned 12 of the danish warships, the rest fled, we lost one ship. i hope this war ends soon so we can get on with our independance and maybe i can see my family.

Jun 26th 1494
We barely escaped desaster today when our fleet was attacked by a massive 45ship enemy force. The rumors of the war are good however as sweden is making gains in gotland, skane is in our control and other places we are winning. Still there is unrest in the country and our King is under pressure due to instability (-2) im sure we would fight better if we knew things were better at home. We sail next to take a large army to a land called sveland to attack the danish capital. i wish them luck.
News come from a visiting english seaman that his country had annexed ireland. That also the heathen ottoman turks have annexed the mamelukes of egypt. I hope one day i can see all these different lands.

Mar 4th 1495,
copenhagan has been taken by our army and our armies continue to win battles against denmark. On the other hand our fleet must flee from the massive danish fleet of 30warships. We only have 11/0/5.

The war losses were reported to be 49,000 men total killed and 3600 cavalry lost. We lost four warships including some of my friends on them. AFter the war i was sent by the command to stockholm for a shore base position. I was also promoted to an officer and given command over a group of men there. As an officer i learned that Sweden was getting about 70ducats a year in taxes and the economy was at 20.2 ducats/mo which continued to get better as our stability improved.

Denmark surrendered skane and gotland to sweden that year for peace. Oh how sweden is a mighty nation after all, hail the king.

Dec 26th 1497
My time in stockholm was just work with the navy training program. England had went to war on France and their allies jummped in. The turks invaded hungary also but our country was not concerned about all this happening. We also had no ally and were just picking up our country after years of vassalage to denmark and our latest war.
Apparently our trade and infrastructure improved too lvl (2). And i helped bring in the new naval tech of caravels (2) to our fleet.
King Sten died on October 8th it was a week of forced mourning at the base but when we heard we had a new king Hans, we were extatic and moral was boosted. I even had a chance to visit home in Kalmar and see my parents. I was rejecting religion then, the catholics made me sick with their penances and salvation for money deals. What a bunch of liers. But my entire family was catholic so i respected that.

KING HANS ERA
Feb 13th 1499
Good news came down the chain that King Hans had prepared royal marriages with France and Poland and Holstein. We also gained an alliance with france so now our allies were France, Savoy, Papal states, brittny and navarra. I left the navy in 1497 and went to work for a merchant company in stockholm. Sweden was building up its military with 7 new galleys and more men for the army. It was good to see sweden growing and getting stronger, i was happy to have been a part of that.

We would soon enter into a new century, one that i was excited to see how i could build my own family and serve sweden.

My merchant company i worked for is doing well thanks to a decent economy for sweden. Its not that we are booming but times are good. We seem to have a good king in Hans, he has kept the treasury wide open for merchants to do as they please.

My home in stockholm while i was living alone was modest, just a one room pad, it was a good start for me. I met a girl a few months ago, her name is Romela and she is really nice, i think she likes me too. Well on that note, i have been attending the catholic church here more often, after the war years ago, i really want to get closer to god. I spent some money to pay for my sins, somehow it just doesnt seem right to have to pay money for forgiveness from god. I never did trust the catholics,hmm oh well.

Stockholm is a nice city, definately bigger than kalmar but i miss my folks.

29 DEC 1500
Well im back in Kalmar now, things didnt work out back in stockholm thanks to some bad apples in the company there. So now i am working for a local merchant in Kalmar, thanks to my experience i have a good job and work all the trade ships there its busy but pays well. With my new position i had to leave Romela, we have fallen deep in love but now we are seperated. I will be doing all i can to get her to Kalmar with me and near to my family. It is nice to be around my folks, dad isnt well but he is a fighter.

Some friction in town has sprung up among the officials of the city due to instability left over from the last war with denmark. King Hans has kept the country together well though. My boss says once the country gets back to normal, business will be even better, wooohooo bigger pay check.

I watched the dock yards building a galley for the navy also. It seems the navy i left a few years ago is being built up again. It now has 11/20/5 strength, i bet we could take on those danes now.

Well things are going well with the merchant company at work. I had a chance to visit Romela in stockholm, how i miss her so, we plan on getting married next year sometime, things look good so far.

In sweden it was business as normal, i heard the army got a new general, they call him H. Gadh but apparently he isnt all that. 2-2-2-1 at best. Well i just hope he never has a war to fight, i would like to raise my family in peace.

7DEC 1501
Its been an extremely busy few months, I have been busy getting prepared for romela to move to Kalmar with me. News came though that Russia and Denmark have gone to war against the Teutonic order and that brings war just too close to home. So i have been visiting the catholic church more often, dont know why it just depresses me more, but Romela wants me to go.

On 16 november King Hans died in stockholm, this was not good because rumors were that the new king Stensture Sjoblad hated Russia and he might declare war on Russia or Denmark. Thats the last thing i need now, it would disrupt my job and my cash flow, i might even have to go fight and my plans with romela go in smoke. For now though , things are good.

Well the worst has happened as i expected. Right after i got Romela to Kalmar and we got settled into our nice new home. Our King Stensture declared war on Russia. Now Sweden is at war with Russia, Denmark and some little land called Pskov. Our ally France and Savoy joined us in the war so maybe that will help. Oh i hope this war doesnt come to Kalmar or last that long. The interesting thing is that the whole country was backing up the King in the war on russia, no stability was lost. So thats a good thing too. We will see how it goes.

thanks xanadu, i wont be getting another update for this aar until maybe tomorrow, busy at work and i am going balloon chasing today, noo not little balloons, big BIG ones, LOL.

This is a awesome AAR and probably takes a lot of skill to write in this style. I think this is one of the best AARs I have ever read (So far) And I am not trying to suck up to you because you are a moderator

Thank you sharur and brad, yes i really have high hopes for this aar idea because it is completely different from any aar. The diary part is and first person like this is extremely rare.

I promise screenshots (promise is nullified if i die ) but give me time, i must get some sleep inbetween all my projects and now i have to deal with my girlfriend, and my exgirlfriend just called me last night, AAARRRRGGGHH, now what do i do? hehe
