In Damaskus

A message arrives at Vizier Muhammed Abdul-Jalil's residence.

In the name of God the merciful I welcome you to Damaskus. I hope you will find your stay pleasant.

Alas I have still not received any reply from the Al-Agta concerning the meeting. I'm afraid the meeting will have to wait for some time. If you, in the meantime, would like to discuss any matter just send the word to me.

Grand Vizier Sheikh Ghazi bin Said bin Abdullah al-Bahr al-Rawas

In the Palace

Imam Zaid stepped into the office of the Sultan.

The Sultan looked a bit surprised. "Oh, Imam Zaid, It has been some time since we last meet."

"Yes, I have had other things to do then worrie myself about your ruling of Egypt" The Imam replied.

"Ah yes, of course. So what issue do you have on your mind now, now when you finally honour me with your present?" The Sultan asked a bit ironical.

The Imam stared a while on the Sultan, noticing the ironi.

"Like you shouldnt know Yusuf. Its that devilworshiper who call himself Caliph. I can not believe you let that man settle in Cairo. Do you wish to condem your eternal soul into the flames of Hell!? I demand that actions are taken to remove this abnormality before Allah, before Allah´s punishment strucks all Egypt. And do you not realise that he recently have issued a fatwa. A fatwa that calls for armed actions not only against the infidels but also against you, my dear Yusuf. Will you allow such intrigue makers live inside this beutifull city!?"

The Sultan looked a bit amused when he answered.

"Well, well, well. I hardly believe that the so called Caliph would allow an attack upon Mameluke territory, after all, so many of his followors live inside our borders and wars mostly brings destruction to the innocent. So, I more see his precense in Cairo as an protection for the rightfull ones in Egypt, then a threath. Becaue while he would protect his followers he must also protect the shiites, as they live so closely togheter."

"Well if you are unwilling to take actions against this heresy, I, may be forced to...."

Then the Imam left the room.

The Grand Vizier steps into the Sultan.

"Master, I have finished my work and conclusions." He said.

"Good, so tell me about it." The Sultan replied.

"First the matter with Nubia. It seems like darkness ones again have covered that land. Tributes havent been paid for a long time and according Imam Zaid nothing have been heard about the mullahs that was sent there during your last regency."

"Hmmm, that fielthy, back stabbing, Nubian. I should have rosteed him when I could. Remind me to never trust one of thoose southernes once again. Also tell General Omar to send an expedition to try to locate the missing mullahs" The Sultan replied.

"Yes, master. As for the second matter, the Priest in Rom. It seems like there have been a change of power over there. I havent been able to find out how much the current Priest is aware of the past." The Grand Vizier said.

"Well, doesnt matter. I am a man of my word and will respect what have been said in the past as long as the Priest in Rom do the same. Now tell me, is there any truth in the rumors about a conflict between the infidel nations of Genoa and Venice?"

"I havent got the chanse to confirm any rumors yet, master, but hopefully I will be, shortly. Is there any particular side that Egypt would sympitase with in that case?" The Grand Vizer asked.

"Nah, thoose infidels always argues about there trading rights. Egypt have had a very good history of trade, understanding and cooperation with Aragon, and I am sure of that the Aragonese King is capable of protecting the shipping lanes between us, if a conflict would arise. As for Genoa and Vencie, none of them is involved in any trade of importance with Egypt. Let them continue arguing by them self." The Sultan said.

"Yes master, I have also finished some reports about our neighbours, do you wish to hear it aswell."

"Hmmm, very well then, but make it briefly. I got other things to do aswell" The Sultan said, thinking of the wrestling game that wold be held shorlty between his newly accuired wrestler Yorgi and some other well known wrestler from Jordan.

"The Emir of Tunis have once again felled in silence. After the proposed marriage between our both nations nothing else seems to have happend. His wife and daughters cant be located in Egypt, so i assume they returned to Tunis."

"That was a shame they where both very beutifull and the Emirs daughter would have made an excellent wife, I am sure." The Sultan replied raising his eye to the skies as he was dreaming of something.

"And as for the Ottoman Sultan. He seems to engage in diplomacy but hold a low profile. He have signed an agreement with the Doge of Genoa, but not yet accepted your ambassador at his Court."

"Hehehe yes, the Sultan of the Osmanis always seems a bit odd, but hopefully we´ll come along anyway."

"Your representative in Isfahan also talks about dissagreement between the Il Khanate and the Golden Horde."

The Sultan starts laughing loud. "Hahahaha..., well what a meeting that must be. I would have loved to see that with my own eyes. A council with the meaning of uniting, hehehe, it seems like the heretics cant even unite behind something common themself...."

"And as for the Omanis, well that you know all by yourself."

"Yes, It is delightfull to ones again hear from my trusted friend and to have reinstituted the alliance with the honorable Omanis. Hopefully I will be able to meet with my friend in person some day."

The Grand Vizer was about to continue on his report, when the Sultan raised his hand and stopped him.

"Enough, we have to continue another time. Now Im already late for an very important event..."

The Grand Vizer calls for the ambassador from the Kingdom of Aragon.

With a smile on his face he starts to speak.

"Greetings Don Moretto,
Rumors reached us about a war that your King is fighting against ungratefull rebells in the west. Please send words to him about our support for his noble work.

I am also glad to say that the trade agreement between your nation and Egypt has already showed its value. Its good to see that nations like ours can prosper in this way. I will remind the Sultan to send a proper gift to your master to show our good faith in the good relations that Egypt and Aragon have."

Then the Grand Vizier alter his voice, almost to a whisper.

"On a different matter, the Sultan regrets the fact that his coffeins isnt so filled with gold as he would have wished. Therefore, my master wonders if the noble King of Aragon, after he finished his war, would be able and willing to lend a minor amount to the Mameluke Sultanate. If the Sultan would found it necissary to finance a minor expedition to secure the valuable trade routes?"

A letter arrived for Patriarch Dioscorus of Alexandria,

Thank you for your kind letter. I was hearten by your letter. May I inquire to the condition of the Orthodox within your dicoese? Also, how do your flocks feel about their Muslim masters? I hope that they are living in the peace. I pray for that. I extend an invitation for you to Hagia Sophia any time you desire it. We could talk about the Orthodox world. One more thing, I am a bit confused with the hierarchy of the Church since I was more focused on theology. Patriarch of Constantinople is on the top, correct? Or is it more of first among equal? Please forgive my lack of openess to Orthodox since I had seen the previous Patriarch as the top Patriarch of this God's Earth and focused only in my area. I am not well versed with Orthodox politics since I prefer more spiritual side to politics.

Go in peace,
Patriarch Menador of Cosnatntinople

General Omar entered the Court.

"Sultan, you called for me!"

"Yes! I need you to rally the troops and prepare the navy for a naval operation. A heretic ruler, son of a mule, have dared to insult me. This must be avenged!" The Sultan replied.

"Of course, when do you want the navy to set sail?"

"NOW!!! and Omar... bring this empty plate of silver with you..."

As the Muslim Fleet rides a Rhodesian Warship is spotted skimming the perimeter of the fleet stealthily under a diplomatic flag.

Suddenly The Rhodesian Warship fires a single projectile at the lead ship of the Mameluk fleet. It appears to be a DEAD Muslim Pirate IMPALED upon a Catholic Cross with a message stuck onto his bloody body:

The Captain on the boat where the impaled pirate had landed takes the scroll and reads it.

"These infidel knights..."

He then takes a look at the pirate.

"Hahaha... it looks like the infidels have captured a Tunisian pirate ship not long ago"

He points at a tatto on the pirates left arm.

"I recognice that. It looks like the mark of el-Makal, pirate chief from Tripoli"

He starts to laugh real loud.

"HAHAHA! It seems like these, so called knights, have made us a favour by sending yet another heretic sunnite to Hell! These infidels cant differ a mules ass from their own mother..."

He then gets serius again.

"Prepare to recieve our messenger. He should soon be returning, with our without the King of Cyprus..."
