I am amazed at your abilities. Perhaps I underestimated you, and for that, I apologize. The pirate attackes cease, and with speed I have seen no one accomplish before. I shall remember this, and I shall remember your patience in the future, should other conflicts arise.

I would like to increase the trade that flows through Egypt, as you have more that proved that you are capable of ruling Egypt. I would like to possibly exchange maps with you, and any information you can provide me of the land east of the Timurids would be helpful. I would also like to speak with you on certain matters in private.

Omar Valerio, the Genovese ambassador to Africa enters the court, bows before the sultan and begins to speak.

"Your highness,

I bring gifts from the west and the north. I have a Damascene blade, some fine furs from Scandinavia, and an Italian painting. I hope these gifts are suitable for your majesty. I also desire to create a permanent trade route from Arabia to Genoa, to bring the Arabian spices and silks. As it works now, the realms of Arabia, Aden and Oman bring the spices from the far east, and then the trade shall flow through Egypt. Then, the trade shall go to Genoa. We can create an Arabian trade company, spearheaded by nobility in both of our countries. Then, Genoa shall merely transfer the goods to the north and west. Perhaps we can arrange the creation of trading posts in your realm, and perhaps you can give our merchants access through your lands, and to your ports in the Red Sea, so that we can set up trading posts in Arabia and perhaps even beyond. We shall create the Genovese Arabian Trade Company, and all involved shall prosper greatly, as it will open up the market. Now, the Mamelukes shall indirectly trade with countries such as France or even as far as England.

Lastly, I bring a message from my Doge, addressed for your eyes only."

It gives me great pleasure to see that you are a honorable man that wishes nothing more than peace and co-operation between our two nations. I am also willing to send a representative for a meeting in Cairo to discuss common interests. But until then I wish you to rethink your current religius status. Imagine all the great deeds we could make in the name of Allah, if you could change your way of belife and enter the great Devout Alliance of Allah. I can imagine the reactions in your fine nation, if you would be willing to make these changes, but rest assure that the prosperity in a united muslim world would be even greater.

With word reaching deep into the realms of the St. Marks alliance and the Islamic church of the unholy alliance with the Infidel there is a reaction

I thought we could build a bridge of understanding between our two nations, but now you declare war on a member of the Devout Alliance of Allah, thus making your self a prey for every member of our honorable alliance. I guess I was foolish, beliving that you wished to promote peace above all. We are no more willing to attend to any meeting until this matter is solved. Neither will any ship, carrying Mameluck colours, sail west of Tunis without beeing sunked by our corsairs.

A stranger is granted audience before the Sultan Barsbay. He wears a great curved dagger in front of him; a Saidi, pure silver and gold plated, the mark of the Omani. He strides towards the throne with proud steps and bystanders can notice an interesting scar along his left chin. He slows down his pace as he approaches the Sultan.

“God’s Peace O Great Sultan, may you live a thousand healthy days” The man bows.
“I bring warm greetings from my Master Imam Malik. He hopes you will have a long and giving cooperation. I’m the Dai Kiya Buzurg Ummid and it will be my undeniable pleasure to be the Imams mouth here in Egypt.”

“If your highness would please excuse me I would now like to retire to my rooms, the journey has been demanding. Oh yes, one more thing. If your highness could be so kind to forward this letter to the Dodge of Genoa it would be most helpful.”

The Dai turns and leaves the hall followed by a couple of servants.
