King James I of Scotland speaks to the ambassador from Bremen:

"Your nation must forgive me for not addressing this issue earlier but as you have found out I was out of the nation on business in England. I have given this treaty of trade a long while, and with the recent trade emargo and many things that have been brought to my attention Scotland can not enter into any kind of trade agreement with your nation at this time. Scotland is a neutral nation who has ambassadors in the nation which you embargo, by signing this treaty we would be in effect participating in an embargo that we have nothing to do with. This matter is within the Empire and we wish to offend no one. We feel that by you doing this embargo you are only hurting yourself, and the people of nation will not be a part of something that hurts the ordinary people of Europe. Scottish goods will be in Austria, Luxembourg, Bremen, Colonge, France, England, Livonia, and many more nations. We hope you repect our decision and see that it was only made because it is not in Scotland's best interest to do at this moment. Perhaps in the future, perhaps not but until then our two nations shall not have strained relations I pray because of my decision."

Lothar Stoiber looks confused for a moment, and he consults his papers with the orders left by Erich Bruche.

"But, Your Royal Majesty, Hansa has no intention of ordering scottich merchants around.
We're not inviting you to join the Hansa, only to enter close trading relations with the Hansa. As a non-member, you will not be bound by any embargo the Hansa should chose to enact.

I, as you, only wish for peace and prosperity in Europe, and we would never dream of telling our trade partners what to do.

Your Royal Majesty, I assure you both I and Johann III respects your desire to stay neutral in the conflict. Surely a trade agrement with one side does not prevent you from trading with the other side. On the contrary, think of the benefits scottish merchants could reap, importing Austrian good to the Hansa and Hansa good to Austria."

After a hard day of hunting stag in the Scottish Highlands King James I of Scotland and his tiny party stop to wash and eat by a local stream. After a fine meal of boar that the group had killed earlier in the day King James drifted away to sleep only to be awoken by the sounds of a struggle. Awakening fast King James finds that several party members have been killed, and that the last two including his brother Prince Duncan are bound and gagged. Taking every inch of courage in his body King James stands and addresses the men who have done this act. They are the native highlanders of the region and look as fierce as the stories King James had heard as a young child to put him off to sleep.

King James speaks:

"What say you I am your king put down your weapons and release my brother at once. Do you know that I am King James I of Scotland and not just some party you can rob and murde? This is an outrage i command you to stop."

The obvious leader looks directly into the eyes of King James and never lifting them from the gaze of his king walks slowly behind the boung Prince Duncan who is upon his knees, takes out a knife and slid it across the throat. Upon seeing the blood the bandit leader speaks:

"Aye we know who you be, and we know who you not be. Your time in England has turned you into the lapdog for the English King. We are Scottish and a proud people. We will not allow you to rule any longer. As a representative of the clans i charge you with treason against the state. Your punishment will be death."

With that three men surrond King James and ready their broadswords. King James ever gallant to the end takes his sword and fights until his death. Upon the last blow one word is heard form the dead king, "My child," with that King James I of Scotland reigns no more. And the faith and leadership of a nation lies in the belly of its queen.
