A young nobleman clad in the latest Italian fashion enters. Without sensing any others present he brashly crosses the room and strikes a beaming smile at the Queen, before bowing deeply and giving her hand a slight kiss. Without letting go of her eyes he declares:

I greet you, fair Queen and Regent Elionor of mighty England. I am Cavaliere Hernan de Famagusta, envoy and servant of the King of Naples, Principe Sergio I. I have been sent by my Lord to take up residence and be his voice here at fabled Windsor, and

His smile grows..

now seeing the splendour of it, I thank him for my mission...

My Lord sends his best wishes to both the young King and Yourself and hopes he will soon have the pleasure of seeing an English ambassador in his halls.

With that Hernan bows courtly once more and retires from the Queen's view.

After waiting for a little while, a man of german descent comes into the English court and bows before the king.

"Your Majesty,

My lord, Ernst I of Bavaria, sees it in our mutual interest that we have ambassadors in each others courts. That is why he sent me, von Trusier, to be an ambassador in London. He also wishes that a Royal Marriage between our two countries be made."

After he finished, he waited for what the king had to say.

A letter arrives before the young King's eyes from a family in Bretagne.

Your majesty,

We the Beauforts, a branch of the most noble Plantaganets, wish to humbly request for aid, in case of inevitable war with those of the other despicable barbaric nobles in Bretagne. For the Duchess of Bretagne, and the King of England, we must protect Bretagne from the false nobles of Breton!

Your humble servants,
The Home of Beaufort at Rennes

King Richard calls his son and daughter-in-law before him. As they stand humbly before the King, the effect is spoiled slightly by the King bouncing his granddaughter on his knee and grinning. As he begins to speak, his face grows more serious.

"I have heard of madness is Bretagne, caused by the Anjous and their allies raising arms against the Ducal throne. Since these matters are taking place in France, and against my family, I must act. I wish you to send a letter to the rebels, and ask them to return to their peaceful lives. This is their once chance for amnesty. If they do not, then the full might of the House of York shall fall upon those who assail our inalienable rights."

The Mecklemburgians have arrived

The Mecklemburgian Duke, his new wife and his followers finally arrived in London, and they immediately went to Windsor Castle, but not into the court itself. While Jessica went to see her relatives, Henry wanted to make sure that all was in order with his clothes, colours, seals and documents, before he presented himself before the king.
When he felt ready, he sent a man to the court itself to hear if the king was ready to meet him in person. Henry was of course thinking about the presentation of the Garter and the signing og the the document of Mecklemburgian independence.
Henry waited for the court's reply...

In Paris
The morning was cold and gray and wet. For the past two days, various wagons had arrived in Paris – part of the train that had accompanied the King and Queen from Rome through the Empire and now to the gates of Paris. Trumpets were heard by the Parisians, loud and cheerful through the gray rain that turned snow into muddy slush. The carriage of the Queen Regent of England had entered her city, bearing also her husband, the King of Castile-Leon.

Toward the Louvre, the carriage rolled. The young King looked around, this being his first time in Paris. Even after the devastation of the English conquest, the city had beauty.

In the Louvre, the royal couple bathed and changed and feasted. After dinner, the Queen Regent presented her husband to the King of England, her son, Henry VI. The young King stood and received his stepfather’s greetings formally. As the evening wore on, however, the boy became the child again and Juan and Henry found themselves playing with his wooden soldiers before the fire. After Henry was taken off to bed, the couple retired quickly, enjoying the return to chambers they could consider their own.

Rising early, they left quickly, heading for Calais, anxious to get to Windsor.

Henry of Mecklemburg received ill news, that the royal family was not even in London at the time he arrived. Saddened by this, he took of his official dress, and went back to his lodgings.

Well, while he was here, he might as well take a tour of the town, he had heard many splendid things of London. Also, since it would be a while before the royal family would be back, Henry took a quick visit to the old Oxford University, where he gathered new ideas to take home to the University of Rostock...

All while he waited for the royal family to return...

A servant looking for Count Heinrich of Wuerttemberg cannot find him in his chambers in Paris. The dutiful servant waits throughout the day for him, yet the count does not return. The optimistic assume that he had to leave swiftly due to some urgent matter. The pessimistic instead beleive that he has met some of the less gentile citizens of Paris and some worse fate has been given to him.

Henry's Adventure in England

Oxford had been quite interesting, and Henry had convinsed a couple of scholars to visit the University of Rostock the following year. And now he had arrived in Nottinghamshire.

Duke Henry looked at the vast land of his new shire, covered sporadically with trees and sometimes entire forests. Good hunting grounds. The snow still covered some parts of the landscape, making the scenery a mix of brown, green and white. Henry rode his horse down from the hill and into the nearest village. The people there had received their orders in advance, to greet him properly, as he was their new Earl of Nottingham. Along with Henry were his steward, and some of the stewards' men. And of course Henry's secretary Jonathan.
The local villagers welcomed Henry with bread, wine, dance and music, and in the mean time they had the "fortunate" opportunity to pay the special tax that was required when a new lord was appointed to the land. Henry used the short visit in the village to order the amount of workload that the villagers owed him at his estates. Again, next years taxes were agreed upon... or demanded. Henry realized, that all European landlords had one thing in common: the stubborness of their peasants. At least the peasants feared him, since he married into the royal family.
Henry used the entire week to inspect his lands in Nottinghamshire, making sure the mills were properly taken care of, that the churches did not miss anything, that a couple of beggars were granted a few coins, that criminals were trialed and hanged. Henry also visited a monastery, where he learned new ways of growing salads and carrots.
Nevertheless, Henry was bored out of his mind, and in top of that, rumour had it, that the English king would not sign the independence document after all. Henry sighed. What if this entire journey should prove to be a waste of time? No, out of the question! What he had heard was just a rumour... so he would think no more of it.
It was time to return to London. He would not want to miss the coronation.
