In the furtherance of Christ's word, let this be known,

Commonwealth policy

The Policy of the FEDERATION is to bring prosperity and stability to western Europe. Expanding it's interests and that of the Church. Respecting the sovereignty of it's members and furthering their cause. The First Consuls term of office is to last for twenty years whereby a council of Electors will vote for whichever monarch is to hold the office for the next term. The electors, and candidate are to be any reigning sovereign that has been in the commonwealth for five years or more. (Or hereditary voters. (Aragon, Normandy, Eire, Brittany,Navarre and England)

1) All envoys to this gathering will be seen as officially representing the view of their nation.

2) An envoy who offends the First Consul or the dignity of the FEDERATION will be asked to consider their words in their quarters.
A second offence will result in the envoy being forcibly removed and a letter of warning sent to their monarch.
A third offence will result in the execution of the envoy and a declaration of war upon the unworthy nation.

3) Those nations which are part of THE FEDERATION OF THE COMMONWEALTH OF NATIONS of will be granted the eternal right to address this Councils seat. Their good name and reputation will take precedence over those not part of the FEDERATION.

4) The FEDERATION are a most Catholic people, the Orthodox will be tolerated but the Saracens and heretics of this world can expect a hostile response. Though the code of Chivalry will be observed at all times.

5) The First Consul reserves the right to dismiss a Commonwealth envoy which has failed to uphold the values of the FEDERATION . Another must be appointed or the nations rights and position is lost.

6) The First Consul has the right to reward those who serve the FEDERATION with titles or other gifts.

7) The FEDERATION is a most humble servant of the Catholic church, the Church does not serve the FEDERATION and we hereby declare that there is no other Emperor in the Christian world other than that of the HRE. Remember this well when you address this gathering.

8) The First Consul reserves the right to call for coin and troops from the Commonwealth nations of the FEDERATION. Those who heed this call can be sure of great praise and recognition, just as those who refuse will be derided and their name tarnished. (A CB for the Federation if request for help refused, without good reason of conflicting interests, like attacking you liege lord.)

9) The First Consul reserves the right to appoint any man according to his abilities to FEDERATION service. Those offered such offices would be wise to accept them for their word will be listened to in council.

10) The First Consul is the Supreme Commander of the FEDERATION , all nations within the FEDERATION pledge to obey his directives at all times. In return the First Consul agrees to avoid bringing dishonour on the title of "First Consul" by abusing the authority of the Chair and to defend the FEDERATION from its enemies (those within and those without).

11) The Elector Delegates will hold council to advise and comment, for the First Consuls benefit. As he is first among equals.

12) Any violent action within the FEDERATIONS SEAT is forbidden. (It is a holy place and chivalrous) Duels and other displays of aggression should be carried out in the courtyard.

With permission from Normandy, Brittany and England. The Island of Mont St. Michael on the channel coast will be declared, independent from all kings and given to the residing First Consul and the Steward (Second Consul) as the FEDERATIONS SEAT. The gray English drizzle drove down from the sky's in one constantly moving blanket. The bells of the land rang a mournful toll. The people dragged their feet and wept.

A month ago the whole Royal family had been struck by that foul affliction called the Bloody Flux. King John and his family were at deaths door. The greatest Physicians in the land and from abroad had been brought in ,to no effect.

They were dying, and a Nation mourned. What of the House of Lancaster now?

As King Thomas passed away and went to the arms of our lord God, a rumor spread like wildfire.

There were reports that the "Fisherman" was in the country near Dover. His renown in the Healing arts preceded him. Many ailing peasants and Nobles had already used his services. He only ever asked for food and lodging as payment , though often other gifts were pressed upon him.

Rather than sending armed troops, John (de Mowbray), Earl Marshal; 3rd Duke of Norfolk the Lord Chief Justice was sent by Lord High Steward.( Hugh, 3rd lord of Moresby. Duke of Bedford) to plead for his help. He rushed south in all haste.

As He and his retinue arrive in a rain soaked meadow at Deal. They clamber out of the coach to see an ocean of people surrounding a small Dew pond where Kirk Picard (The "Fisherman") could be seen Baptizing the multitudes.

Finding it necessary to use the armed knights of the escort to forge a passage they stride down through the trampled grass and mud towards the Focus point of all this devotion.

"Make way! In the name of the King!"

The crowd become quiet and make way. Lord John de Mowbray soon realized his danger. The Mob seemed to see him as a threat to the Fisherman and were growling in a menacing murmur. He stopped the knights and walked on alone.

Upon reaching the Holy priest he kneels and introduces himself.

"Your Eminence. I come to ask for your assistance in saving what is left of our Royal family. You owe us nothing and may even merit your wrath. I beg your forgiveness and seek your aid, in this our darkest hour of need."

The Fisherman looks upon him with his kind eyes and raises him from the mud.

"Noble lord. Please don't kneel to me for I am now nothing but a simple healer following the light of Christ."

"I have no position or home"

"Where there is suffering and pain I bring gods word and my humble skills, to sinner and pious alike."

"If you and your nation are in need my son, I will not refuse you aid, for it would be unchristian for me to do so. Lead on."

Arriving at Hampton Court, after a wild ride in the Carriage, Kirk Picard tends to the Royal Family.

After two months of his ministrations the family recuperate and mourn the loss of Thomas.

The Coronation of the New King John is held the following month, and to everyone's surprise John decrees he will reside in Warwick Castle as Hampton Court holds to many sad memories.

King John soon establishes his new approach to Rule and the Lord High Steward. Lord Hugh, despaired.

The conquering might of England seemed to be in the hands of a Royal Buffoon. Johns policy seemed to be, "If it wore skirts and moved, hump it".... "If it had horns and four legs, Hunt it"..... "If it was a game of chance, Confront it.". His love of the Joust was the only saving grace.

Perversely King John and Kirk Picard get on well together. The ex Pontiff sees a sinner in need of guidance, and King John sees an Honest man that had saved his life (even if he did keep giving him penance for his sins) He made Kirk his personal confessor and a month later elevated Richard Bourchier to permanently be Cardinal in attendance to His holiness Pope Martin V. And Kirk Picard to the lofty hights of Archbishop of Canterbury.

As the weeks ware on the court indulge in many of the whims of the new King . One of the first major decisions he made was to make his younger brother, Humphrey, Duke of Brittany

One morning High on the Tower the king turns to Archbishop Kirk Picard.

"I say, old fruit. Do you think I ought to pop down to the throne room and see some off those boring old farts that await me? "

"It really is too much, old man. But I suppose I can't use the excuse of mourning for ever. Eh ? What? He, he"

He gives a conspiritual wink.

Kirk turns to him and speaks in a serious tone.

"Sire. You have duties to perform, I beg you to put aside your sinful ways and take on the mantle of King properly."

The Monarch frowns.

"I suppose you're correct old man. "Hey nonny nonny...tummm te tum " as our bard friend would say. ...heh?"

He laughs at his own poor jest.

" Any way old man. What was that drivel about Provence and Naples? Did Venice do these things you tell me off? Or were you in a slumber, dreaming? Tell me all again so I might look at least a little up to date in current affairs to my visitors? "

As they move through the courtyard toward the great hall and the audience with the foreign emissaries he calls across the practice area towards the Mews.

"Goodman Farrow! Be a good fellow and have "Ariadney" in her Jesse's in an hour!"

"I'll lay you a month of your wages that she will take no less than 15 birds today! Perhaps some Hare too!"

Archbishop Picard takes his leave, believing it to be indiscreet to be to prominent in the public eye.

As King John enters the hall in full energetic stride Frederick De' Cryerr his Majesties Chamberlain and Herald Hails his arrival an asks for the first person to introduce themselves.

King John eyes one of the serving wenches, with pretty green eyes and firery red hair. Hmmmmmmm.

Arriving at Canterburry René see that a mass was on and that he had the great privilege to see that the archbishop was doing it. During it he was praying fot the success of the mission his brother the king gave him.
When it was done he go see the archbishop and intercept him before he leaved the cathedral
"Archbishop don't you reconised me" he said smilling, "i'm once again send by my brother to see you.
He has given me this letter from him for you. If you whant to see me i will be aboard the ship "Le triomphant" on the dock of London, i hope i will hear news from you soon" and then he see the archbishop being taken away by the movement of the crowd.

I heard the terrible news of the death of your brother, the Great Thomas of Lancaster. He was a great man who did much good for the English throne. At the moment I am in Castille speaking with the King of Castille, King of Portugal, and Doge of Genoa. Though, I have plans after this meeting, to personally meet you at Warwick Castle. These are very disturbing times and it is good to know that Burgundy has a friend in such a great kingdom as England. I have a letter with this that is for your eyes only. This letter should explain some challenges our two countries might face soon.

He gives his horse like laugh.

He then skims through the letters from the Teutonic Order, Burgundy and His Brother in Brittany.

He turns to Frederick De' Cryerr his Majesties Chamberlain and asks him to answer all three. So he can go hunting with his Peregrin Falcon.

"Send out emmisaries to any relevant nations and an note to the Teutons that they will have finantial support if half is payed back in 6 months and the rest after the Polish war."

Kirk and the King sit playing chess, for no matter how much King John pesters Kirk, he refuses to gamble or play any games that have conotations of gambling.

"No one would attack a Royal fleet on route to the Holy city...eh. what?"

"You will also have my protection, and by using the royal fleet we could be back in short time, ready for the Doge of Genoa to arrive later and the wedding; if my brother will concent."

Kirk looks closely at his King.

"Sire would it not be too much? You are truly generous"

Smiling he replies.

"Dear friend. You saved my life and that of most of my family. Also I have honest and pious council from you. It is the least i can do. Plus a King should visit the Eternal City at least once in his life..... Is there any sport there?"
