“Head Chancellor of Aragon,

As you are well aware of, much of the goods from the far east India that is heading for Europe is passing the city of Alexandria, and as this letter is written more trade is directed and concentrated to Alexandria. Up to know the only European nation that have been able to profit from the trade with India is Genoa. Genoa use its connections with the Timurud empire to allow them to travel through their territory. Now, a soon to be trade agreement between the Mamelukes, Hedjaz and Oman, will give the city of Alexandria the sole right to load and ship goods from the Orient to Europe ,from the above mentioned nations. The one who would gain the right of shipping these goods from Alexandria to the harbours of Europe would indead be a wealthy and powerfull one, as he would controll one of only two possible trade routs to India. The Mameluke Sultanate has already offered Genoa this right and is currently negotiate about it with them, but now the Sultanates also wish to offer this right to Aragon, thus letting the merchants from Aragon grab this oppertunity, if they are willing to.

Sir Gil sniffs the sweet smell of the sea as the good King of Aragon pulls together the naval exercises. He then walks to the good King bows and stands near. They watch together. When the naval exercises end, the good King picks togther 15 able bodied men and great sailors for the school of Navigation. They take a boat to back to Sagres, but before hand Sir Gil de Eannes bows before the great King and hands him a parchment from Prince Henrique and Dom Affonso IV.

Your majesty, it brings Portugal and my liege great grief over the loss of King John. We are not disrespectful, as we pray daily in our churches for his guidence in heaven. Please, understand...We have most pressing matters, and most importent a crusade. Let us fight once more as allies of the pious Federation against the Horde. May God be upon England, Aragon, Portugal, and the Federation.

After that he bows before him with red dry eyes from sorrow over King John.

Your majesty, Portugal has officially withdrawn from the Federation. An alliance that seperates us from our friends is no good. Portugal has ties to Aragon and England. We cannot afford to take sides in this untimely conflict...Please, forgive us. We shall not depart as enemies, but as very dear friends. If England and her vassals wish to rejoin, we would be honored to do so. However, as of the current sitiuation, Portugal is going it neutral. We pray your majesty's realm understands, that we wish no ill will, only free departure. Good day, your grace. May God be with you.

It seems now there is no way for Navarra to stay in the federation. Every country is deserting it and I fear that if I remain a memember it shall only lead to more bloodshed in my realm. I pray that you and England can find a peacefull resolution to your problems and that we may once again be united together in harmony. But until that time, I am afraid to say that Navarra must look out for her best interests which will be to remain neutral. I hold no ill will to you or your realm and pray that we may still be friends in these dire times."
