Affonso looks at the new First Consul in a sad desposition...and frowns but is assertive even during this disturbing time.

My friend...it trully brings sadness for me. However, the man was a heathen...and if he were to survive, who would have guessed what ill luck would await us. Please, now we must look at all plausible cases, and finish our discussions, despite our loss, as we are very busy. Let us take care of the matter of the assination of the good late King, and then let us discuss what we have come here to. My friend...may God be with us all in these troubled times.

Well I think we can start debating first point, also I received a note from Normandy, they are doing some changes there and in a few days someone will be here.

I think so, Paris is a better place for the seat of this great total-alliance, a better and fine city and after this incident I don't think we should meet here anymore.

At Calis

D. Affonso IV looks at the first consul and bows again, still moved by the incident he agrees on the matter of moving to the Louvre.

Good friend, I think it shall be safer as well if we were to move our great and pious alliance to the Louvre, as it deems necessary now. The Louvre shall be a good spot to conduct our business. Let us move there in the dreaded events that unravelled here today.

With a gastly look in his eyes and face, it is clear that he is on high alert with the current events. He signals his troops to gather around Calis and search the area. He then looks at the deceased King, bows and says a quick prayer. He sends in his doctors and priests, to pick him up, and to escort him in a most honored and fashioned way, back to England, where he will be recieved with a most dignified and glorious, but sad funeral.

"Gentlemen, I have seen a King killed by murder and have watched a noble legate murder a man for no offense greater than a difference of religious belief. I am a good Catholic, loyal to the Church, as is my King. But to murder a man in cold blood because he does not acknowledge the Pope? He was a representative of his lord.

"This is not the manner in which Castile chooses to conduct diplomacy. I fear I must withdraw and confer with my King."

The Castilian gathers his papers and motions to his attendant that they shall soon depart.

Pere speaks to Count Guzman:

We are sorry to hear that, but we would like you to stay here till we have debated point 3.
King Affonso IV is young and should learn some more diplomacy, but I think he acted unconsciently because of what has happened here, nobody would have supposed King John would be assasinated here and after watching that I think we can't act normally, also I can let you go after the assasin is captured and interviewed, I hope you understand this.

Then Pere speaks to the Chief of Army in Calais, but no news had arriven.

King Affonso rises in a discouraged face. He motions with his hands in a respectful way. He then speaks with his comrades.

I ask of you what is my crime? Have I not done what the Pope whould have? Do we not want God's presence? It is clear that the life of a meager heretic brings a small rift. Thus if you shall be abliged to cut off my head for it go ahead. However, may I remind you that this is a man of Satan, the man whom infected our good court. Now, we have a message from the heretic leader, and it will only ill us more. The good King was killed by an assasin and we must attend to his murderer. However, God would have protected him under Christ's good miracles if it weren't for the heretic. Now you accuse me of misbehavior? Very well, if it is so the wish here, you may have my head.

He places his whine down, and then flips his hair like so, that the flesh of his bare neck is exposed in front of his allies.

Pere speaks:

Calm Affonso, calm. It is possible he would have been a heretic but everyone deserves justice, that's what difference us from infidels, I'm also I'm sure you are not quiet after all what happened, please sit down, pray God and think about your action.

Pere receives a note from his brother Enric in Grenoble, he quietly reads it and gets shocked:
oh my God Savoy and Bourbonnais had declared war on France and want to destroy it, as my brother Alfons is uncle of King Louis, and new Henry of England is Louis' cousin I think we should help France against the traitors in France.

King Affonso steps back as to take the advice of Pere. He then flips his hair back and puts on his royal cap once more. He stands upright and salutes Pere out of respect. Then he sits and prays as Pere has humbly suggested.

After praying he revives more calm now. He looks at Pere and smiles. He says to him.

I shall remain. Only for a bit longer as I see it more important matters lie here in this court. I await another English delagate and so we may proceed. Then perhaps I can return to my realm. Let us put this heretic matter aside as it is disturbing. Let us wait my friends.

He takes his cup and pours more whine in it. He sits down, folds his fine legs, and sips his whine.

However, we were forced to declare war upon France, for several reasons. They demanded I break my vassalage and declare war on my overlord, Burgundy. That is a very grave offense.

Also, why should Bourbonnais and Savoy cease our war against France? We desire our claims, as we both have claims against the lands of France. Bourbonnais has further claims, being as their Duke may possibly be the true heir to the French throne. Why should we be denied our right, while England and Aragon recieve theirs on the fields of France?
